Just curious - which of these are more often asked for by your prospects? cPanel, Plesk, DirectAdmin, HSphere or others?

cPanel an DirectAdmin are the two most frequent on our end. Every now and then someone will mention Plesk, but it's about as frequent as Ensim being asked for :)

But then I guess it depends on who your target audience is. We're linux focused for the most part, and seems most of our clients are cPanel aware.

I'm beginning to see a trend moreso toward DirectAdmin. Have you noticed any marked difference in requests lately?

I must have a different clientele.
If I sign up 100 clients I may have one who even mentions a control panel let alone request one by name.
The vast majority of people out there from my experience have a website and they want to get online. They usually care very little about the bells and whistles.

I haven't had a single complaint about cPanel in 6 years.

Personally, I believe that outside the forums world, most people don't care about the control panel, as long at it exists and has the necessary functionality.

There's also a significant chunk of people who use the word cpanel, which they've picked up from somewhere, as a synonym for "control panel". So when you have them asking "Do you have cpanel?", they're not really "into cPanel", they just want to have a control panel.

Plesk losing its market rapidly after its highly messed release 9.x series, the most opted still is Cpanel, Direct admin claiming its reach slowly.

In windows slowly Dotnet panel is replacing the Plesk but will take years to over ride since Dotnet panel not seeming to be fully developed

mainly people tend to look for what they have used before or know they like, as cpanel is practically industry standard a lot of users tend to look for this although its not entirely necessary.

cant really complain about cpanel's user front end as such although the back end could be improved allthough all the things you need are availible :)

but cpanel is what we are always asked for and also we always mention it on any advertisement to reduce the volly of questions on live support.

only thing id say is avoid custom control pannels as i found customers tend to "dissagree" with them.

Probably the case.
A very small fraction of my clients are a direct result of online forums.

cPanel or DirectAdmin for hosting companies, but LxAdmin is popular with users who just want a control panel for their own personal sites and mail.
