More $ Spent = Trustworthy Provider?

Do more expensive services mean quality?

There are some expensive services that would actually make us regret of ever using them. On the other hand , there are also some cheap services that we thought would waste our time trying it but when we actually try it, we get what we want. :)

Therefore for me PRICE DOES NOT DEFINE EVERYTHING.

What are your thoughts about it? :)

This is a very general question. Pricing depends on the business model. Still, in most cases you get what you paid for. :)

Price is a very narrow gauge of ANYTHING other than price itself. As far as it having to do with quality, while it's not a direct correlation, in many cases it is true that the more you spend the better service you get. Again, this is a generality, but not always the case.

An evaluation of ANY service should be performed before spending money with anyone. If it was always about price = service, then you'd see more hosting companies charging a lot more for services. Similarly you'd only see expensive computers on the market.

Comparing Price vs Service is similar to Apples vs Oranges - they're not in the same category so you really can't compare them.

Peer review is king in my experience. Ask around for suggestions from people who you know personally so you can trust their judgement, and supplement that with forum posts and the like from people who don't seem like one-off vindictive customers.

If a company does what I need them to do and everyone seems generally content I see no reason to second-guess the price. Take good luck when you find it.

I would have to agree that price does not define everything. Because something may be expensive doesn't always mean it will be good, and the same applies the other way around. If something is cheap, it could also be the best.

I agree with you. :agree: we cannot always generalize especially matters about price and services. What I usually do is to research on a provider, their services and prices. That would be more appropriate to know whether an organization is trustworthy and has excellent services. :)

There is no hard correlation between price and service quality, however, cheaper services have higher chances to turn into 'too good to be true'.

Sometime it's depend on service provider as well....I know some web hosting provider they provide quality services for less dollars, It might be due to there business models

I think its more important who started or runs the hosting company. Its very easy to start a hosting business -- its to the point where you don't require any server knowledge beyond a control panel or the basics of how a website works. These type of hosters would not know how to set up a web site manually or how to manage the OS without some sort of automation. They may still be in school or work in an unrelated field.

Then there is the hoster that comes from an IT background. They know how to build servers, configure servers, manage servers and networks without a control panel. Some have been doing it before there was the internet. To them a control panel is a convenience, not a substitute for knowledge.

Suppose both hosts are one-man operations and the 2nd type has lower prices. Pick one.

A costlier product does not necessarily mean a bitter product. Apple vs Microsoft is one example that hase been debated for years. Quality of service may be minimal due to most of the cost going towards paying for equipment. And of course the is the human element that is management. At the end of the day, the management team behind a product is what makes the product good. Not necessarily the price paid for that product.

Generally speaking, more $$ means better quality. There is no such thing as very reliable and very cheap, but if you digg deep enough, you can find a good and stable provider at good prices.
However, remember that you always get what you are paying for.

I do not really agree. Reliability and cheapness are the aspects that I am trying to balance for my company.

Since I have a lot of wealth and since I have a normal job outside of my web host industry, why wouldn't I purchase uptime and reliable servers, set a cheap price, and sell it to my customers?

You have a point. That is why we cannot expect much on free hosting as well since we are not paying for it. :agree:

That is right, in a sense we get what we pay for , although due to competition some actually make their plans cheaper but that does not mean they are not reliable. If you check very well and do some search on some providers we will find that there are still cheap and reliable services. :)

The consensus of this thread is that more money equates with more quality.

This is good news to me. Now, instead of buying more servers, I will just raise my price!

More $ spent doesn't necessarily mean a more trustworthy provider, but the "project management triangle" usually applies to most products and services : 1) fast 2) good 3) cheap
(pick any two)
