Hey,

I was thinking to let you know... I have installed SP2 on my Computer and works great for me, and I was thinking of sharing the link for the ppl that wants to install it before MS Windows Update Downloads it. ;)

It goes Gold here

The Direct Download Link is Here

Oh and if you "accidently" put in the wrong product key at installation, use this

Hope it helps :)

btw; I love IE's Pop'up blocking feature :)

No problem. It's is stable thought ;)

For some, some of the so called computer experts have been having troubles with it. Although I forget most of them are cpanel jockies so that shows their level of expertise.

I just let windows update mine automatically, well I have to give it permission by clicking the update icon in the taskbar but it's basically auto.

What exactly is changed in the latest update?

I have never noticed anything in the GUI or programs that have changed in the past when I updated.

Yeah that's how I do it too John, let the automatic update take care of all my updates and everything..

My mother works for MSN and tells me some things about the new service pack and other updates too..

Now Windows XP has a Security Center that tells you if your computer is protected (If you have an Anti-virus) and if you have Turned automatic updates on...

Also, Windows XP SP2 comes with a Firewall for free, like someone posted on my forums you can see an Screenshot http://navigatoris.org/index.php?showtopic=57

Also, Internet Explorer has an Anti-PopUP System, AND it blocks every script and requests if you have it on, like Program install ones......

What I can say about it is that I love it :)

Hey that is pretty cool... I heard something about some programs stop working because of the firewall in the new service pack or something like that? Have you had any troubles?

If you run P2P software you need to turn the firewall of so it can open up let's say the port 4222 (of Ed2k)

Thanks for the screenshot Francisco.
The firewall built into windows is really bad, it doesn't let a lot of programs work properly and a lot of people don't even know it is turned on when it's causing the problems.

I was a beta tester for a TCP (Worked over the internet) program and that was one of the main problems, people couldn't use it properly because of the XP firewall and they didn't even know it was turned on.

Is the firewall in the latest update better Francisco?
I have a firewall and anti-virus program running on my computer anyway, and I can tweak that a lot more than you can tweak the XP firewall.

For the popup stopper, I don't really use IE, use firefox about 99% of the time now, firefox has had a built in popup stopper for a long time now ;)

Well, for me it is a good firewall you will get for free, but if you have the money or preffer something more Advanced go for a Paid Firewall like ZoneAlarm, since SP2 I think W32 Firewall is like more or less ZoneAlarm one, but it doesn't has so many features.... You can turn W32 firewall off and Install ZoneAlarm and it will tell you that your PC is Protected anyways:)

I use firefox too but sometimes I have to use IE :(

Seems like Microsoft is getting more bad press after releasing SP2.

I haven't got it installed yet, what size is it exactly?
I have a fast connection so doesn't really matter but I have seen a few sites saying it was large, just haven't seen how large.
What do users on 56k do?
Are you able to download it in parts then put them together using zip/rar?

Yeah, it certainly does.

What do users on 56k do?
I'm not 100% sure on this, however I heard that they were going to release it in a smaller file for people on 56k, online including the vital things.

Thankfully though I don't need it, since when I used Windows I didn't use XP and now use Linux.
