Microsoft ditches Windows Live Messenger for Skype

wow - that's a biggie. Wonder how much they're going to mess with Skype as a result. I know they've had control of Skype for a number of years now, but if they're not focusing on their own IM service, all those engineers will now start playing with Skype :(

yup, trouple is if i install skype onto my PC it slows everything down even though my PC is well within the requirements. I have customers often contact me using live messenger.

I wonder what next Microsoft will discontinue.

April 2012 Microsoft discontinued Office Live Small Business

i wonder how much their support rates will go up as MS will not even allow you to open a support ticket unless you pay them. i think their rate is £39 to pay before opening a request.

well i signed up with skype using my msn details and they auto generate and useless skype ID so they say the only way to make an ID to suit business is to create a new skype account and then merge the 2 accounts, which they dont give instructions on how to do this
