Lots of people will make more money that you do - that's part of how the world works. People in the web design market often attribute themselves to making 20-50k per year, however I know plenty of designers (1 man shops) that make 500k+ each year, and a number of 2 and 3 man shops making more than 5 million a year.
How you ask? It comes down to the market and their target clientele. Many of them work on Government sites and not mom & pop sites. I've been involved in some large web development projects that spanned several years and well into the 500k range on a SINGLE design project. Granted the money didn't all go to me, but when you're dealing with corporations, they'll rarely go with a one man shop.
Do people make money in affiliate marketing? Sure do. Requires work though.
So much like you can say that these guys make their money doing that - doctors and lawyers make a lot of money doing what they have spent years learning.
What you put in is what you get out. If you put in 100%, you'll get 100% reward - if not, you need to bring in another person to show you what you're doing wrong and not getting 100% of what you believe you're due.
Hard work my friend - a lot of hard work (in any business).
