LXLabs Suicide/HyperVM

Does this still have many hosts out there panicked as to what to do with a ton of clients on this panel and now no idea what will happen after this mans death? I still can not find anytong recent and updated about who will tkae over, and not many hosts are talking about it other than trying to scramble in order to get things sorted on their end. We have been lucky and this barely effected one client who we came up with another panel quickly, but so far so good.

Not hearing much of a buzz on this either - it seems that people are just hoping that nothing happens (never good in the hosting industry). I don't know of many hosts that made a dramatic change to new control panels, they just seem to be running what they were without much in the way of a backup plan. At least that's what I'm seeing out there anyway.

We are still using HyperVM, but will be switching to another panel within the next week or two. Some hosts don't plan on switching and are hoping for the best. This is not a good thing. Every VPS host out there should consider a new panel or else they will be in big trouble when HyperVM finally goes down.

Fortunately, we're not affected by this. I can see where this could present real problems for some providers.

There is no need to switch to some other panel from hypervm.
Hypervm as well as kloxo is now going open source

You shall use it free of cost now.

I contacted a host with very high end VPS offerings recently and they told me that they will not be provisioning any new VPS accounts until all potential issues with HyperVM are sorted out. My impression was that they are looking for a different solution.

It will be going open source soon, they just want to fix the current bugs first.

In the mean time I would check out vePortal.com - simply great software for VPS control. Very cheap too.

I expect free panels to come out soon as well - there is a lot of development going on.

I think hoping for the best in this case is not a good idea - better to jump ship now and come back to HyperVM if/when it is being actively developed and supported again.
