looks like WHMCS has deceived many with version 5.1.2

John from WHMCS has just dug a large whole for WHMCS for them to sink into which they seem to have deceived all users with version 5.1.2.

Matt has kept saying they have no know issues and yet they have 500+ tickets in a queue and many complaints in their forum and even on WHT.

but version 5.1.2 comes with bootstrap v.2.0.x, but read Johns reply (post 6) on http://forum.whmcs.com/showthread.php?52734-WHMCS-Demo&p=241902#post241902 to the question

I also have issue with being told, by Matt, that WHMCS was "using v5.1.2 and had been since May", and yet anyone who knows what to look for can see they are using bootstrap.css v1.4.0, from WHMCS v5.0.3, and *not* the latest version of bootstrap v.2.0.x that came shipped with WHMCS v5.1.2.

It's quite simply really, our member's area template uses the earlier version of Bootstrap. It's perfectly possible to be running version 5.1 and use bootstrap.css v1.4.0, so you can take your tin-foil hat off now

so why are WHMCS using the old bootstrap with version 5.1.2

no ive not yet updated to the new version 5.1.2 as this has many issues to the fact that WHMCS have 500+ support tickets in their queue regarding many issues which are also all over their forum and WHT.

version 5.1.2 was released as a stable version with bootstrap version 2.

Matt from WHMCS says their is no known issue with the new version but 500+ tickets and many reports on their own forum and WHT say otherwise and the fact that WHMCS themselves say they are using version 5.1.2 but with bootstrap 1.4 from version 5.0.3 would suggest their is an issue with the bootstrap version 2

matt stated 500+ tickets in queue thats why no one is getting any support from them at the moment.

this is the worse new release they every released.

a few members think they rushed it out after the hack issue and also to concentrate on the cPanel partnership

the fact is that WHMCS is a billing and management software, so those using it rely on it to manage their orders and invoices and support system, so if it fails it effects your own business, so you expoect some sort of support from WHMCS as you are paying for support

Wow. What a revelation.
The fact is WHMCS is a billing software that very few people seem to be having any issues with.
The fact is people should either use it or not use it based on their own issues and not start stupid rumors about it.

it is not a rumor it is a comment made by a member of WHMCS staff, if the bootstrap version 2 is the one that they released as part of version 5.1.2 then why are they themseves not using this bootstrap and are using the bootstrap from an earlier version unless their is an issue with bopotstrap version 2.
they say 500+ tickets in their queue. this could be 501 or 99999 tickets. they are not going to disclose the exact number.

What issues are there? I was going to upgrade but decided to hold off for a few days becuase of these "chinese whispers". I've not yet found any major issue apart from the odd couple publicly sounding off in the forums and other people not keen on the new interface.

Given the diverse amount of configurations there are, a major release change will cause some "noise" for support - it's to be expected. I'd also guess that a good 1/3rd of the tickets in the queue are multiple tickets about the same issue from the same people.

I can't comment on any problems with the new version, and tbh i've no idea why anyone that hasn't upgraded (and gotten problems as a result) shoudl be complaining...

their seems to be many issues

css issues
admin login issues
payment gateway issues
domain registration etc. issues

the list goes on

it is also a concern that WHMCS issued the new release with bootstrap 2, but they are using the old bootstrap rather than the bootstrap that they provide with the release.

i have the new version 5.1.2. on a development licence and have faced many of these issues + others, so i have not upgraded my production to the new version.

yes a lot of tickets will most likely be duplicate tickets, but if they answered tickets in the first place then dups would not be created. yes they do have slower support during a new release, but in my nany years using WHMCS this is the worse release thay have provided

Our integration job had to be worked on as well. Luckily, this was also taken care of quickly by Jack from Zomex.com, which he did an excellent job BTW.

many have major issues as shown on the forum and in WHM. i have some issues on my dev licence, which i am slowing working through.

yes like your integration, Jack does a great job. even jack had an issue with 5.1.2, he asked me yesterday of i had the email for a WHMCS tech as he did not want to submit a ticket (for obvious reasons).

i will stay with 5.0.3 until the issues settle down.

Been having quite a few issues myself. Got the major stuff tuned out by tweaking templates. The main issues now are all in the admin area.

true most are just tweaks needed, but for some reason Matt and the team are not repling to tickets, updating their twitter/FB pages or even repling to their forum threads.

The only WHMCS staf member i have seen on the forum recently is Mark and thats only been repling to spam reports (which has magnified 10 fold since the hack incident)

Having over 100,000 customers with only 500 tickets is actually not so bad, especially after a new release. We upgraded right when it came out, we have had NO issues whatsoever.

- Daniel :)

The best way to deal with these issues is to stay on the stable version until a proper stable version is released for the next version.

I had a couple of issues, but I got them all resolved in my development license by WHMCS support promptly before moving it to my live site.
