Looking for New Host - Reseller Account

Hi ... I am in serious need of a new web host that can provide me with a reseller account ... even though I am not a reseller.

(Sob story warning :) ) I am disabled and exist on a small disability pension. I have a number of websites ... they are my hobby. I also provide web space (at no charge) to a number of friends, most of whom are also disabled and living on small pensions. So ... an economical solution is desired.

My current host has become unresponsive to support requests from any of their customers ... and just feel increasingly uneasy about my web hosts continued viability. I have been with my current host for 3+ years (so I am loyal :) ) and they were excellent until just this past 8 months or so. I was with my previous host 2+ years ... but left them when they too became unresponsive to their customers.

I require ...
- No Setup Fees
- minimum 2GB webspace (prefer 3 GB)
- minimum 20 GB bandwidth per month (prefer 30GB +)
- 2 IP addresses - I have my own Name Servers
- CPanel & WHM (if poss. - I am familiar only with these)
- unlimited Domains
- unlimited sub-Domains
- unlimited Email Accounts - & forwarding etc etc etc
- Linux/Unix with Frontpage extensions available
- PHP, Pearl & Pear
- unlimited MySQL databases

The people I provide web space to come to me for support ... and I contact support only when I cannot fix a problem myself.

I do not have my own credit card ... so I use my sisters (with her permission) to pay the web charge on an automatic monthly basis. So any host I choose must have the capability to allow payment to be made in this way.

The sites I have & host can be viewed from www.905host.net Nothing x-rated ... but a number of them are geared to people living alternative lifestyles ... and so I guess they would be rated Mature

I would prefer a host based in Canada or the US ... with web servers definitely in the US

The unlimited things you want I am sure noone can offer it and those who do are not professionals. If you have 400 domains with traffic and several php applications running, the server will not be able to cope with the load.

Regarding the unlimited domains ... that is what my current host advertises so I figure "why not" hehehehe

The reality is ... there are currently approx 14 domains being used ... but I cannot imagine there ever being more than 20 - 25 ever being needed.

Unlimited bandwidth and unlimited space are deceiving, on that I agree, but when yet you say:

I can only ask: Is there a widely accepted definition for what a "logical amount " means?

Peter wants 20-30 GB bandwidth per month. That's what gives us the real hint at what the load on the server will be, not the number of domains he has. 30GB are OK in a shared/reseller hosting environment. Also, the load is not determined by the number of databases, but by the number of times they are accessed. You can give 1 database and yet the user can create as many tables as he chooses. Limiting the # of databases because "unlimited is bad" makes little sense then. ;)

In any case, sorry for intervening, I usually keep out of sales threads, but your post started with a statement that I found to be unfair towards a lot of hosts out there who are in fact professionals.
 
Sorry people ... I guess I better share a little of "My Reality" as it applies to my web space and how I use & share it. It might save a bit of confusion.

1. I really would prefer a 3 GB webspace
2. I currently have a 20GB bandwidth ... but would prefer 30 GB. The REALITY of it is though ... combined my sites & those I host rarely exceed 3 GB total per month.
3. Unlimited sub-domains - when I establish a new account I usually allot each account 6 maximum
4. Unlimited MySQL - again I usually allot 6 when opening a new account
5. Unlimited Email accounts - I normally assign 10 with each new account

Basically ... the sites I have and the ones I host for friends are not huge volume accounts in the way of bandwidth or MB size. But when I give a friend webspace I just want to be able to assign more space than I figure they will ever need & more bandwidth than they will ever use just so I do not have to keep monitoring things and trying to keep everyone within assigned smaller limits. Know what I mean?

Few make use of the sub-domains or MySQL databases ... or even fully use the number of email accounts I assign them.

In listing my requirements ... I just want to make sure that I too have more space & more bandwidth than I will ever need.

In addition, regarding a post earlier by ARTzWeb.net....

We offer the unlimited features requested by Peter, have been in business long enough (4 years total), and I'm sure our clients would agree, have earned the right to be called "professional." You comment was unjust, unfair, and contains no factual backing.
 
Offering unlimited databases, emails, and domains is not unprofessional. The fact of the matter is not many people use over 100 domains, but it reassuring that they can use as many domains as needed. The only people hosting over 100 domains either have quite a large network, or are involved with domain parking. The comment was unnecessary.

My own sites, hosting friends sites, updating, modifying & designing my own sites is my hobby. They are not sites about hobbies or anything :)

As noted in my initial post ... if you go to 905host.net you will see the links to all my sites as well as the websites of my friends that I provide space to.

My own sites right now ... most are either out of date or stagnant or dormant. I suffered a health setback in the spring and am just now am beginning to spend the necessary time online that I "might" be able to get them all updated & working at some point.
