Logo Design Recommendations?

I've created my website but haven't decided on a logo to go with. I'm proficient at Photoshop, but I don't think I'm skilled enough to develop something professional-looking. Have any of you tried having a company develop a logo or did you develop it yourself? Any tips?

If you need a graphics artist, check out http://www.artdesigndrive.com . Jordan redid all of our logo's for us and offered a really competitive price. We love support small, independent, indie type graphics artists and we would use him again for any of our work! He doesn't require link back's however we felt his work was worthy of having a link back from us!
