Keeping lean and mean...?

So... how do we all keep fit around here? Because let's face it, most of us need more than a keyboard to keep moving.

Last year I discovered the wonderful world of ballroom dancing! It's so much fun, a great way to keep fit and meet new people. (Great for meeting a partner too, I might add. That was a nice little bonus I didn't expect!) I'm very much enjoying Modern Waltz at the moment... I'm tall so it makes me feel less gangly, lol.

How about you?

I eat properly (I reward/cheat myself once in a while) lol. I lower my carb intake, increase my protien intake, and workout 3 times a week.

Actually have my own little gym upstairs - work out every morning before work. If I didn't work out, I'd probably weigh 300 pounds. I love my wife's cooking. :)

Anytime but winter I try to walk places more. I used to strap my headphones on, toss my notebook on my back and just wonder. Sometimes I'd end up working on a bench in the park, other times I'd run into firends, but more ofter than not I'd get 100 feet from home and say "screw it, I'm driving"..

@siforek: too funny! :D

I've been play tennis since I was 2 days shy of my 6th birthday. I've been in it professionally, but unfortunately I got injured in October 2008 and been in different therapy since. Going for my MRI today, finally. Love the sport and I don't think I can live without it.

Don't be in a rush to jump back in too soon. I suffered a ruptured achilles tendon, pushed it and ruptured it a second time. BIG mistake. I love tennis too, but it seems like it gets harder every year.

I've got a 9 month old Saint Bernard puppy (about 130lbs - still growing), so with a dog that big he needs excercise (as do I), so we usually do 5 miles walking in the morning, and a few miles in the evening. This keeps the furnature intact ;)

Healthy diets are nice, but I can't do it. I have my big fry in the morning, donughts or apple strudle during the day, then whatever for dinner. I drink coke constantly. I smoke cigars like they're going out of style (which in some places, I hear they are ;0 ).

Summer time I try to be out on my deck as much as possible, so a cigar and notebook are always around me. Sitting in a char for 12+ hours a day is never healthy.

It seems that every time I get injured - its always when you are in top shape. You start pushing yourself on the court and something goes wrong. And every single time it takes a lot more effort and time to get back into previous shape...

The nature of the beast :) Just listen to your body and don't push too much. Your body will tell you when you're doing too much and to sit it out.

A buddy of mine has shoulder surgery last year - it sucked because he was finally on top of his golf game and was finally into single digit handicap. Well after taking a year off golf (and bowling - he was a 210 scratch with a number of 300 games), he's finally back out on the golf course and slowly getting back into the swing of things.

No point overdoing it and having to sit out for even longer!

Ah yes... there are 3 big dogs in my house hold. The 2 pups are always a concern around the funiture... Nothing like the threat of lounge suites being destroyed to get you out walking the dog. :agree:

I should eat alot better but I have such a hectic life that its just not that easy. I commend everyone that works out because that is something I do not do.
