Just bought a new Droid

Well I finally make the plunge and picked up a new Motorola Droid on Friday - what a sweet little phone, much better than my previous Pocket PC phones.

I've now disconnected 3 of my cell phones and replaced them all with a single phone. The big turnon for me, the ability to set different ring tones for various emails or SMS messages. This eliminated the need of having one of my phones as a pager.

Battery life is like every other pocket PC in that it drains pretty quickly (7-9 hours with some use), but overall I've been happy with the investment.

The voice to text features for messages, emails and even helpdesk ticket replies has proven to be invaluable in just the short few days I've used it.

Really impressed!

I have been on the study path for my first smartphone myself for the past few months.

I believe Droid is an Android-based device? What OS were you using before?

I am kind of leaning toward Palm Pre Plus (or the next generation - love WebOS too much). Honestly, increase the size/screen, put in the powerful processor, a 5 megapixel camera and increase the physical keyboard and I am sold!

Verizon is the carrier that I'm using. I refuse to secum to At&T for the iPhone. I used their service before, but my location is really bad reception for AT&T :( Seems like it only works when I'm standing on one leg in the garage, or if I'm in the bathroom :)
