Is your company unique?

Hello All,
Just a question that came to mind today. We see many hosts offering this and that for that price. When you started your company, did you follow the same trends as other hosts? or did you try to do something different?

If so... what seperates your company from being one of the regulars?
 
Well actually Matt, my site is down for upgrades and one of the things we are looking at is being unique.. we want to offer everything that people do but some things that nobody offers.. not sure what though.. not yet anyway.
 
Thats the hard part! Finding a niche in the market and working away at it!

Yeah, we are opening it to suggestions as well to see what people want, so far have a few things but nothing we think is what we need to aim for.

I'm proud to say that our company is indeed unique. We have our own office in India, one in the US and we are true to the vision that the World Is Flat - which is an extension to the vision that outsourcing is here to stay.

Most everybody outsources in the hosting industry today. If you lease a server from a datacenter, you're outsourcing (instead of buying your own datacenter).

Anyhow, just my two cents.

True Roj, outsourcing is a huge business in it's self. I worked for a company who was one of the leaders in outsourcing solutions. I am still amazed at how big the business of outsourcing is.

You just need a way to tap in to the industry and make a nice few dollars out of it :)
 
If leasing a server from a datacentre is outsourcing, then how do your servers connect to the internet without outsourcing? Personally, I think outsourcing servers to datacentres is BETTER than having your own datacentre (unless you are truly an expert at both hosting + managing a datacentre) - why try and do something yourself when there are experts who will do it cheaper?
 
Definately a niche market. Flash isnt unique but coming up with unique ways to use it are. FLV (Flash Live VIdeo) that is.

Working on an online web browser powered video recorder, online encoder, and html code generator so you can do an all in one instant video integration that plays in all browsers, and does not require a media player like WM Real or Quicktime installed

So yeah since we do virtually no marketing and get good solid inquiries every day I would say unique.
