So what does everyone think of an iPhone, product of Apple, probably one of the most anticipated gadget launches in years.

While the launch was a huge success - question is - are you going to buy one for yourself? If yes, why? If no, why not?

Best,

No I won't. If it's $499.00 (£250.00) In the U.S it will cost alot more in Europe.

Secondly, I only use my phone for Text Messages, Phone Calls and the occasion of Images and Videos I don't need all the other gadgets.

It looks like a great Phone but not my cup of tea.

I really don't get what the big deal is about it? I really find it funny how people can be so desperate for something! I mean, come on!! it's a phone :P Not the end of the world. There were people skipping college/uni/work for this product. Personally I wouldn't waste my time for it. It will be just like the Razor in Canada, which now almost EVERYONE has these days. Only a matter of time, till the iphone is owned by everyone here :P

Never ever will I pay $500 on a mobile phone. Or, at least, the changes of that happening are about as much as those of me winning the lottery. :)

I continue to see phones as little more than what they used to be 5+ years ago, the rest is marketing aimed mostly at the "I need to be cool" segment of the market (IMHO).

I bought my last refurbished phone for $50. While it has many features, I still use just one of its features - placing calls. :D

I don't see myself ever buying a phone that entertains me - I simply just don't have the time. A business phone with an agenda and calendar, email - perhaps, but not now either. I don't need to listen to the music, browse web on a 2 inch screen, nor do I have the need to "look cool". Not to mention that $500 can buy you a lot of tennis balls. :)

Best,

I'm with you Art.
I use my phone to make phone calls.
I don't have a portable MP3 player so I don't need one on a phone.
I have access to computers pretty much all of the time so I don't need to use my phone for internet or email or downloading.

The price of this phone is absurd and 90% of the people who buy one are pretty much using it as some sort of faux status symbol and will only use about 10% of the features the phone offers.

Actually there were a number of blog posts by reputed telecommunication industry people that analyzed iPhone and said that as an actual phone iPhone has a lot of catching up to do. It doesnt's support a number of standards many other cell phones do such as stereo Bluetooth, 3G compatibility, providing limited capabilities.

I mean $599 for an 8GB phone... and $60-100/mo service plans.. I'd rather buy myself a new laptop. Every 6 months.

Before the iPhone was released BBC News 24 did a segment on Mobile Phones and most people said in Britain was "I'd feel embarrassed walking around with a Nokia 3210" However only about 4% of people used all the functions provided on their phone.

I'd feel more embarrassed if my 600-dollar phone wasn't able to connect me over a standard network, but played Christina Aguilera's latest hit song instead... :D

Speaking of Phones, 02 delivered my Samsung U600 yesterday since I'm on contract I had to change my number *sighs*

Christina Aguilera's latest hit song instead

Haven't heard it probably because it takes a tad longer for it to actually reach us :P

It was just an example. I don't listen to Christina. :)

Justin all the way!!! :D  jk

I would not personally fork over $500 but IIRC the RAZR was a pricey phone before carriers in the US began to subsidize it.

I have had a chance to play with one of the iPhones, as a friend did buy one, and I have to admit it was very impressive.
