The .jobs and .travel TLDs were recently approved by ICANN, with .post (postal services) and .mobi (mobile) awaiting final approval.

Is the extension you register a factor or is any extension okay as long as the website is marketed well?

I believe that someone should stick to the main gTLDs: .com, .net, and .org because they are the most well-known and widely used.

Looking forward to hearing other opinions. :)

Outside of .com, .net and .org, with the exception of country specific extensions, all other extensions are just novelties.

People will scramble to buy all of these new extensions in their favorite name but they will ultimately be worthless.

Hello,

Yes, currently there are many tld's available with the different registrars. Well, todays hosting company likes to have tld which specifies their sites. Well that's not a bad idea, unless and until your registrar supports the same.

Thank you.

Regards,

Agreed, but at the same time all the good generic top-level domain will be gone. Having said that over a million domains are sold each day.

The proposed domain extensions:
.cym .geo .kid .kids .mail .post .sco .web

I can only see .web lasting for a long time.
Can you imagaine google having their own extension eventually, haha.
