Internet Connection Speed

What speed internet connection do you have at home? I had a 1Mb with NTL in the UK but just today we got a new set top box and I will be going at 2Mb when I get home.

What are your thoughts on ADSL2+ and the speeds going up to 24Mb? Apparantly that is only obtainable if you live closer then 300 metres from a BT exchange.

I believe NTL are also offering upgrades to 8Mb at the end of this year and all through next year.

When I got the letter several months ago (March 05 I think) saying my connection was going from 750k to 2Mb eventually (as of today :))... I noticed that the quality of connection has dropped over these last few months since they started the upgrades. Has anyone else noticed this?

I do hope that ISP's start to upgrade their equipment to cope with the extra demand of higher speed surfing!
 
NTL are moving to 30Mb as standard by the end of 2006, or so they say. They will offer 60Mb as a larger package! Now that's some speed! They say homes will need these speeds as standard to access content such as TV on demand, music on demand and access to their "multimedia home".

Should be good if they can deliver all that.
 
Wow... I missed the 30Mb and 60Mb jump late next year.

It makes you wonder how things over the next 2 years are going to progress and how things will be different.
 
Ah well... at least I wasnt going crazy. LOL. It will be good to see how it all progresses and more importantly... if they can cope with the demands.
 
Tiscali claims I have 56k although to be honest I'm not so sure. For example, at the moment it's going so slow I'm actually contemplating going offline and doing some much needed work. But all that will be changing come November 18th as then ADSL will have finally come to my area - It'll only be 2mb, but at least it's something.

Then again... I guess you can't have the best of both worlds - living on a farm in the countryside next to a forest and a very fast Internet connection.
 
I have a cable connection at my parents home and where it is a big account with our Television, Digital, Internet etc.. its a 10mbit connection so QUITE fast.
