Imagine yourself in these shoes...how does the lack of freedom affect you?

You are a young person whose drunken father locks you in your room away from your family and friends for many hours at a time. When he is home and drunk, your father beats you and tried to kill you.

How does the lack of freedom affect you? How would you cope?

Please try to be mature, and give a nice response. I want to see what freedom means to you all people in this situation.

Thanks for responding, that is if you do.

Well, to be honest with you, for me it is incredibly hard to answer this question as I will never be able to imagine myself in that situation since it has never happened to me. Not even a bit of that. Yes, I was grounded, but its was well deserved.

Freedom, however, is a bigger meaning than being locked in a room away from your friends. Do you mean physical freedom, freedom of your mind, freedom of activity?

The scenario you have here is abuse and freedom could easily be achieved by contacting the proper authorities.

I'm pretty sure this is not the answer you've been looking for, but its an honest one.

Best,

Thanks for your response, but this isn't about me, or anyone else for that matter. This is about freedom as a whole. I was reading the novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, and I thought what you would do if you were in this situation. There really is no right or wrong answer, just what you would do/think.

please note that this is in the 1840-50's.

Thank you for your time and efforts.

Best Regards,

In the time frame you are talking about things like this were not talked about in public. If you are young and in this situation chances are you know nothing of true freedom, only what you are raised with.
If someone were to be placed in this situation after living a truely free lifestyle, I suspect the pressure would be unbearable to the point of violent self defence.
