Hey,
just made a huge change to my hosting site.
I had been with Custom-Hosting.net for a while now but for a few reasons I had to change to a new domain.

The new domain is rnhost.com/net/org

The site has been totally changed and I have added some new services to it.

Now, Im looking for a bit of help.
Custom-Hosting.net is listed in quite a few places and I dont think its doing too bad in search engines.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to the best way of making the full move of taking Custom-Hosting offline and moving everything to rnhost while still retaining the search engine places and rankings?

I would like to remove all pages (From public view anyway) and redirect to rnhost's site but I think this would totally take me off the search engines and rankings.
I would like to still keep everything that CH had instead of having to start from scratch from rnhost

Hope someone can help out,
Thanks,
John

Put up a domain re-direct.... like on a 10 second timer.

Have it say Custom-hosting.com has changed names to RNHost.com. Check out the great new easy navigatable site with loads of new rich features... If you are not redirected there in 10 seconds click here.

Parking a domain directly on top of your new one... may cause some confusion for your current clients.. so a direct statement with a link would work better in my eyes.

Hi John,

Parked domain and domain forward will work, however, you will lose your search engine ranking when your site is crawled again (since there will be no content)...

If you are going to do this, you will have to build your new site up again (re search engine optimization , etc...)

Any thought on maintaining 2 sites with links from one to the other?

Thanks for the help,
I think doing a reditect might be the best idea so people dont get confused.
I only want to have the one site up and running, it would be quite a bit of work to keep two sites running with up-to-date info on each, rnhost already is more up-to-date as it has quite a few more things than CH had.
It could improve the rankings of both sites linking to each but I think it wouldnt be worth all the work.
Its a pitty losing the search engine placements because of this but it really had to be done, wish this could have been done a lot earlier but its not something i can moan about, just have to get down to doing some work on getting the new domain going but wont be totally finished until Jan anyway

I was losing a lot of traffic to customhosting.com customhosting.net and custom-hosting.com because of the name.
I didnt have the other domains and a lot of people were typing in the wrong domain, I was getting emails quite a lot about people saying they went to the wrong domain and thought there were also a lot that done that but never realised

Now I have rnhost.com/net/org so people will be able to find the site a lot easier

Soon I will be redirecting it to rnhost.com but at the minute I just have a big message on the main page saying that it is moved and linking to the new address.

No Im not sure what I will do with it in the future.
I would say it will still be getting a good bit of traffic though because its listed on a good few sites (dont think its in any hosting directories, I have never put it in any anyway)
