I don't understand how some businesses can post ....

Have I a legitimate "concern"? Or am I just being a "Type A, anal retentive SOB"??? :)

I see some of the posts from businesses here ... ones offering web space or ones offering Employment Opportunities ... and it seems a lot of them don't really instill a lot of trust due to the bad spelling and/or bad grammar of their offer or request. Not that I am personally interested in their offer or offered positions.

How much time can it take to re-read what has been typed and correct the mistakes before hitting the Submit button?

Admittedly, I sometimes find my own spelling, grammar & typos sometimes slip by and I do nothing to correct it ... but ... I am not a company trying to entice people to try my services or become an employee.

I read some of the posts in Employment Opportunities and I can't help thinking that even if I was looking for a job ... I would take a pass on any company whose post forces me to sit back and attempt to decipher what they really are trying to say with this sentence or that part of a sentence.

Personally, I think anyone who is posting on behalf of a company should make special efforts to represent that company in the best possible light. And that entails making sure all correspondence and online posts are free of spelling and grammatical errors. If they are posting from a personal standpoint, then fine, go for it. But if they are representing their own company or their employer ... then I feel extra care should be taken in composing a post.

But I am new here ... what do I know ?? :)
Take care
Peter

To continue on what you said Peter, I find it interesting that some hosting company owners and/or representatives think it's OK to forget about grammar when posting on forums.

I can disregard mistakes from time to time (because we all make them) but complete lack of attention to suck details (spelling and grammar) is not good business IMO.

Personally I would have second thoughts about dealing with a hosting company that doesn't formulate business propositions in a carefull, detailed manner.

I would have to thoroughly agree.

A typo is a typo, and mistakes happen. However, the thing that erks me, is when the l33t h05t comes in, and posts like that.

Almost right off the bat you can tell that this is a child.

Peter, this is an easy one. You are not being a sob, I completely agree with your point of view. If you run a business, the least you can do is have basic education that would allow you to communicate right. Communication is extremely important especially for Internet companies where people's only opinion of you is based on e-mail correspondence. I cannot begin to imagine what's it like to have a hosting company run by a 9-year old child when you are the client seeking support...

Best,

I like to think I put great effort into my typing and "online image" as I know that is one of the first things I would base a purchase on. If for any reason you see I am failing in said department feel free to reach through and stab my eye. (A PM would be better, but stabbing always works :) )

Hmmmm .... how about a verbal slap upside the head instead? :)
