Last night I was a victim of a police car chase crash.. Yes, just like in the movies! :(

I was, miraculously, not hurt at all (besides some minor bruises).. THANK GOD! - I was very close to never seeing my family again and was almost stripped away from them by this low life running from the cops.. If I had not slammed my breaks at the last moment, he would have t-boned me instead (driver side), going about 70mph.. Surprisingly enough, after the other guy hit me and his car stopped rolling, he still got out of the car and ran from the cops on foot until he was tased and tackled! (adrenaline is a hell-of-a-drug!)

MOD NOTE: Picture links removed.

Funny thing is, last week my wife and I were actually talking about buying a new car for myself as I was long overdue for an upgrade.. :P Be careful what you wish for!

Anyways, I'm glad things turned out the way they did (could have been much worse) and I get to personally tell you all about my recent experience. ;)

P.S - Before you ask.. Yes, I was wearing my seat belt!

Just goes to show, you shouldn't run from the cops.

Glad your made it out fine! Good luck finding your upgrade

Who cares about your bruises, I was more worried about you not being able to post on this forum again! :uhh:

^ I am going to Hell for this one, aren't I?

In all seriousness, that was one close call! Wow. I am super glad you are okay and that moron is in custody. Another case of pure stupidity that could have scarred an innocent and a beautiful family.

I watched the video (the second one actually shows the chase and crash), it is amazing that you kind of went through him and still went forward! How far from the actual crash site did you stop? Btw, kudos for wearing a seat belt!

I've been in a car crash before (I wasn't at fault) when somebody rammed me in the drivers' side passing through red light, but it wasn't anywhere near this bad and dangerous. I understand how traumatic this event is. You will never, EVER, pass through another intersection again (even if you are going through on green light) without checking both ways for cars, even if for a split-second.

Again, very happy you are alright and well. Stay safe!

Hehe, that's not very nice Art! :P

Yes, but in all seriousness, people like this guy (only a 19/yr old btw) truly make me sick.. He didn't even glance at my car once afterwards to see if he hurt anyone, all he cared about was getting away and avoiding his warrant... I'm not going to lie, I enjoyed watching him get a taste of that taser and then be jumped by a handful of police officers on top of his crash injuries. :shh:

When I was crossing the intersection, I had a car next to me on my left side. He saw the fast lights coming at him and started to break. Once he slowed down and stopped blocking my view, I was able to also see the incoming car lights and attempted to break as well, but I was too late. My car spun 360 and ended up on the other road about 60 ft. from the intersection, I wasn't even on the road anymore after we crashed, my car ended up by the sidewalk.

Art, you have NO idea.. I am officially traumatized for life! My wife drove me around all day today and every intersection we crossed I kept telling her "careful, you never know when someone running from the cops is going to be flying by"... We laugh about it now, but this incident freaked her out more than me, believe it or not. Even after she saw that I was okay she could not compose herself.

Thank you all for your support, though. This is the ONLY place were I came to vent publicly BTW.. That's how much I love and respect the HD community. I would never think of posting something so personal anywhere else.:crash:

Great set of photos - horrible way to start the weekend though! Happy to hear that you're doing ok and the wife is doing fine too.

Car crashes are so unpredictable. I've been in a number of them, none of which were my fault, and it does take a little time to get overthem, but soon enough things settle down in your head again. Any time you pass that particular intersection though, you will stiffen up!

Best wishes for a speedy recovery. I know you said that you were able to walk away, but just take it easy for a few days - you never know what may have shifted internally!

Thanks, Conor. :)

Yea, I've also been in a couple of accidents before, but nothing like this (and hope I never do again). Don't worry, I am definitely taking it easy for the next couple of days.. I did go to the hospital afterwards and had them x-ray me and all that good stuff to make sure I was fine internally, though. The doctor called me Iron-Man and said it was a miracle that I walked in the ER (which I agree!), then he sent me home heavily medicated. :D:shh:

Now I'm dealing with attorneys, insurance companies and 2 different police departments because the accident also became a crime scene due to the pursuit.. Not looking forward to looking at this punk face to face in the court room either.

Glad you are ok! I've been in a few nasty ones myself, and nothing makes more irritated is when people have simple disregard for their fellow man. Hopefully he gets an extremely long jail sentence.

Either way we look at it now, it is a good rule of thumb to check for other cars before passing an intersection. Don't rely on other drivers to follow the rules, rely on yourself. Always think for two - you and the other driver. You'll be safer at the end of the day. :)

Thank you for sharing your story with us, bud, we are able to extract great lessons from it.

Why would you run away from the cops!? you mad bro? it just make things worst :(

Just to clarify, I was NOT running from the police.. I was hit by a driver eluding the police on a high speed chase. I'm the victim.

It has been a crazy 12 days since the accident and I have been to over a half a dozen doctor visits already (have 2 more today). MRI's did show internal damage on my spine and knee unfortunately, so I'm not doing so well now that the injuries are coming out. :disagree:

okay . you got lucky that no guns needs to be fired :smash: if not you wont be here anymore :(

Car wrecks are nothing to laugh about, I have been in two major ones and each was just as bad as the other. I am happy to hear you were wearing your seat-belt, its the only rule everyone that rides with me must do (or they are walking).

Wow, I'm so glad you weren't injured more than you were, and our prayers are with you recovering from this.
