How was your Christmas?

Father Frost here. So, tell me guys, how was your Christmas? Got any good presents? :agree:

I had a pretty good Christmas How was yours? Santa good to you?

I am single ... and the family decided years ago to stop exchanging presents between the adults ... so the actual presents were a might scarce

Almost 20 years ago "the family" (parent & siblings) decided instead of giving to each other, we would take the money we would normally have spent on each other and give it to the "battered women's" shelter and the homeless shelter in my hometown. Its never a huge amount of money ... but usually enough that we know everyone that are in residence at those places at Christmas each will receive a small gift ... and that gives us all the "warm fuzzies" for weeks

I travelled the 1/2 hour drive back to my hometown for the day. Watched the young ones in the family open their presents. (We all give presents to the kids until they finish their schooling) The whole family always gets together on Christmas, spends the day together, has an open house in the afternoon so all the extended family & friends are constantly popping in & out and then that is topped off by a big sit down dinner with the immediate family & any inlaws that choose to come. Its kind of an unofficial "marriage agreement" for anyone marrying into the family .... Christmas Day is ours ... no exceptions So a lot of the inlaws families arrive to spend the day with us as well.

This year we kind of broke from the traditional main course of turkey. Well, there was still one turkey that was cooked & carved ... but I was informed a few days ago the main course was going to be primarily BBQ'd beef tenderloin steaks. Seventy pounds of the suckers. By the end of the meal, the family agreed we had a new family tradition on Christmas ... BBQ'd beef tenderloin is now going to be the main course every year hahahahaha

Between the steaks & the side dishes, about 6 different main deserts in addition to the Christmas cakes & Christmas pudding & plates of cookies, squares & tarts .... the free flowing wine & after dinner "spiked coffee's" ... the whole meal felt like unadulterated gluttony But hey ... its once a year .... I can live with the guilt hahahaha

I was the first to leave at about 8 PM ... but then too, I was the only one who had to drive out of town And no ... I did not indulge in any alcholic beverages Besides not wanting to drink & drive ... my body does not react well to booze these days

So all in all ... another quite wonderful Christmas filled with family, friends, love & sharing. Except for maybe the absolutely sinfully delicious meal ... I think we kept Christmas well

K, not really. Great christmas, with lots of friends and family. Didn't get 'too' drunk. *hic*

Christmas can be fun. I'd say I had 75% of good time and fun. The rest was less fun for various reasons (things not falling into place, some not so pleasant people etc.)

On the whole, it was OK. At least I took some time off. It was something I needed.

Not much snow here - lets see. Christmas Eve I turned to wife and asked, "What'd you get Nolan?" She turns to me, "I thought YOU were shopping for him?" I turn back to her...concerned at this point, "No...I thought YOU were."

Needless to say at 4:30 on Christmas Eve I went to Target, spent half an hour in the store and loaded up on pretty much everything Teen Titans and Justice League. I saved Christmas for him Was up until 6AM wrapping the presents, woke up at 7AM and SANTA had came! OMGSNOWWAYKTHXMR!

I got a sweet robe, a nice pair of pajama pants (wearing both right now - very warm I might add) got her a nice robe and some other misc. things. Her mom came over that evening and we had another unwrapping session. Just got back from my Dad's a bit ago and had yet another unwrapping session where Nolan got a "Stinkblaster". (See: http://www.yenra.com/stink-blaster/). I thanked him, watched "I, Robot" (I was impressed!) and then headed home. All in all very good Christmas.

I am very tired now and will probably go to bed early tonight.

Christmas was excellent! Like others who have posted, our family (well my wifes side) does not exchange gifts. We seek out a family who we could share our christmas with. This year we gave some money to a friend of ours who has been diagnosed with cancer and has had a lot of financial problems, we always make it a point to share that the meaning of Christmas is the celebreation of the birth of Jesus Christ, our savior.

I hope that you have had a blessed Christmas and also hope that you know Jesus.

I work for a local Community Action Program (Or CAP) agency. They have a program there called "Adopt A Family". It is similar to what you have described, a family (or a single person) "adopts" another family for Christmas. Adopting entails one family purchasing gifts, most often it is food, for another family who is not as fortunate. In years past with my roommates we have done this. Sometimes the family wants us there when the kids open the gifts, sometimes they prefer us not to be there (I can understand both) - but either way it's an awesome thing to do and I recommend everyone call and find out if there is such a program. One way is to dial 211 (United Way sponsored) and see if they have a program like that in your community.
