I want to create my own site, but I do not know how to do it? Any suggestions? Tips? Answers would be much appreciate.

Hi Ashley, Your going to need atleast,

1. A WebHost
2. A Domain
3. A Template / Look

and thats about it.

If you wanted to create your own site first you will need to purchase a web host, You can do this from many companys or you can search threw this forum http://www.hostingdiscussion.com/shared-reseller-hosting-special-offers/ find a web host that you think fits your needs and then purchase from them, Then for a domain you would need to purchase one from any company out there such as, GoDaddy, Namecheap or others, I use NameCheap.

Then you need a coded web template witch is in web programming. Look on good for some tutorial on how to make a web site from scratch..

... and don't forget to plan what your site will be about.

A blog? A forum? A little bit of both? Others?

Maybe creating a few HTML static web pages and uploading to a free host to get yourself started. Keep reading all the stuff related to creating websites and improving your own.

A relatively easy way would be to install Wordpress (either manually or via your web host's applications installer like Fantastico etc), find a template for it (freewpthemes.net has nice free ones), and start writing content. :)

The 2 main components which make a website - Domain name and hosting.
You need to register a proper domain name at any good registrar and then, register your web hosting plan at a good hosting company. They provide you with nameservers that are to be linked at your domain name account.

After all this done, proceed with the website setup, and it depends on what kind of website you need. Whether a normal HTML site, or a blog based on wordpress. When you are getting a cPanel with your web hosting, you can install wordpress in just a few clicks and everything sets up pretty well.

As others already pointed out, you need to inform yourself on three different things:

1- Domain names: you need to register one
2- Web Hosting: your website needs to be on a server to be available to the public.
3- Content: HTML pages, dynamic content, forums, blog, or what exactly?

Domain + hosting + content = a functional website.

If you are interested..I posted a link to a page that may be able to save you quite a bit of cash:

http://www.safaribooksonline.com/informit/ibm/

Regardless the path you choose...there are many editors at various cost/feature levels.

You can download many free trials to try different tools. There are also very free tools..like seamonkey.

http://www.seamonkey-project.org

There are books that will help you learn seamonkey on safari...if you want them.

http://www.webmonkey.com

is a very good site to learn web design.

There are so many ways to go at this. There are free templates to start out with..and then learn and design your own from there. You can build something from scratch..it just depends on your skill level.

How to Create Your Site

Hi Ashley,

You will need to:
1.) A Domain Name for your website. I recommend GoDaddy (http://www.godaddy.com/), as they are a very reputable company.
2.) A Web Host to make your site visible to the world (stores web pages as files on computers called servers.) I recommend HostGator (http://www.hostgator.com/), for the same reason as GoDaddy.
3.) A Design, Coded/Programmed. There's a lot to it, but if you'd like to try to learn it on your own, W3Schools (http://www.w3schools.com/) is an excellent, free resource.
4.) Get your site noticed. Submitting your site to search engines, particularly Google, is a great start.

since you are just starting out, your best choice is a website builder. You should look for web hosts that offer a free web builder. Also, wordpress is a good tool to get started and it's fairly easy to use.

First, you should ask yourself the following -

what is the purpose of starting this website? business or personal? If personal, you can simply start with a blog. If you want a business site, you will need a CMS or simple HTML based site. Some businesses use fully customized version of wordpress as main site but you might find that difficult since you are just starting out.

Do some keyword research before you actually buy the domain because you don't want to waste your $10 without doing proper research. search for "google keyword tool" in search engine. Use that tool to look up your main site keyword. based on the results, you can go to a domain registrar and search for domains with your main keywords in them.

Many hosts offers a Web Site Builder included in their hosting plans. As RVSkin Site Builder or Parallels Site Builder.

Not all providers offers them but there are out. Take a look at shared hosting offers.

Since you are new to this kind of things Ashley, you can choose a cheap hosting to host your site. And I agree with my fellow commenter, hosting+domain+amazing content=awesome site! :)

First you registered your Domain name.
Then Making a web pages with HTML.
and Web hosting but don't go with free hosting plans.

Simple : go to godaddy - buy a domain
take a host
have a script

Them choose a professional theme, or designer ( depends on budget )

If you are doing the web design:
Find a host signup with domain name (or purchase domain separately)
Upload your website to your hosting account.
Done

If you want someone else to do it:
They can usually set everything up for you.
