How Much Hosting Space Do You Need?

Many web hosts try to sell you a large amount of web hosting space that then costs you a lot each month. However, you may not need this much space. Have you ever calculated just how much disc space (MB) your web site uses? Do you really need an expensive hosting solution for your web site?

Most of my friends sites also only use 2-5Mb for their sites. Therefore it is not necessary to purchase a large amount of space for a small site (if 20 pages = 3Mb, then 20Mb = 140 pages approx).

Before going for any hosting package you should have atleast the rough idea about the space and bandwidth requirement or the best way is to start with the small packages and upgrade it later if necessary.

I have some customers who use maybe 10% of their space, and i have others who use 90-99% of their space, kinda mixed bag heh

Most people will never use the amount of hosting they are actually entitled to, Most web hosts count on this to stay profitable.

Most of mine don't use much of their space. They also know that they aren't paying for the space, the real value comes from things other than the space and bandwidth.

True i completley agree with this but people like me need a whole dedicated server and even that is not enougth at times ;)

I am using 100 MB of my 500 MB total space and the site takes aprox 1-2 GB bandwidth every month while the total bandwidth limit per month is 10 GB.
The reason that I am still using it is that there is no cheap package available then this and I don't want to transfer from my current host, its best.
