How may dis-like webhostingtalk?

Ok, so how may x webhostingtalk.net members do we have? I can not stand the politics with there moderators anymore so I don't visit there forum anymore.

Yeah I am not a fan of WHT any longer.. don't like them much.. I got banned for a month for something stupid before :/

Yea, same thing happened to me. A friend was looking for a "overseas" host cause he sends spam. Well, I posted a request for him and got suspended for a month. This is bull and one of the reasons why I am not going back. I even challenged there rules but they got the final say.

You posted a request for a host to let your friend send spam?
Dont worry, you wouldnt get suspended here.
Im not going to try slam another site, I still go there, been a member for quite a while now.

BTW Robert, :spammers: so that would have been a perm ban for you here :D ;)

Well, I only said you wouldnt get suspended ;)

hehe, I know now but the thing was I read there rules and so on. Nothing about it then they suspend me. Oh'well leason learned. Still sick of them anyhow.

I don't hate them but I don't like them. They were not very friendly to me when I signed up. First because of my spelling

"Learn to spell before you come back"
"Speak english for gods sake"

and so on. But now I have a mac it has inbuilt spellchecking for everything. Even forums like this.

Have seen a lot of people say they arent kind to the newbies but Im positive its not all like that.
Everywhere has a few bad eggs :)
Im sure we will get a few here in the future (They wont last long though ;))

Well I recently joined WHT and nothing bad has happened to me yet but for some reason I prefer this forum because it is not dead like WHT or maybe there is some magic here.

<< Im not going to try slam another site >>

I agree with this totally. True, one or another may not like or be fond of WebHostingTalk, but that isn't really a need to slam them. ;)
I agree, I too don't agree with some of their ethics, nor am I too fond of some of their members, however, when like me, you have been there for a long time, you get known with the most of bigger members and are given some slack. ;) :celeb:
However, I do agree their rules are hard, but go back a few years and go to school... I see children these days doing as they please, parents do nothing, they run free and wild, while in my day things like these were never allowed. Also, a lot of people on WHT are children or act like children unfortunately, and I'm very glad that the WHT rules clamp on rudeness and immaturity for the most part.

How many ex-WebHostingTalk members do we have here? Personally, I'm not sure, however I'm pretty sure there seem to be a few here whom visit both WebHostingTalk and Hosting-Talk as well as a lot of other forum boards too.
PS: John, have there recently been problems with HT? For the past few days, each day I've not been able to access the site for a few hours per time. Once I wasn't able to access it all day long, and this was all after the dos attack. Any ideas as to why? Thanks.

Gordy, what was this stupid thing you did? ;)
You have to realise, their rules are very strict. You contest their rules, but if it directly goes against their rules... I'm afraid there isn't much you can do. :bawling:
Therefore, I advise you to read rules beforehand. ;)

Umm, Turnkey, let me get this right... you asked for a host which allowed you to spam other innocent people against their own free will? I thought spamming though, was illegal under many countries rules?

<< but I think that is enough WHT slamming >>

Agreed. I'm a member of many hosting forum boards, I don't prefer any one to the other - simply because while one may be good in one way, another is better in another way. For me, all are brilliant, you have to slowly mold into the group that is currently there, and become accepted for what you are - first of all, don't take anything to heart and never let them slam you around. Also type correctly and with politeness and professionalism. Why? This shows you're not some child, this shows you're an adult who has views of your own which have the right to be shared with others and viewed as well. If you let them throw anything at you, that isn't good. Also, never go into posts, when you're drunk or sober, and post useless and incorrect information left and right slamming others and so on.

<< Have seen a lot of people say they arent kind to the newbies but Im positive its not all like that. >>

Exactly. I have been a member of WebHostingTalk since Jun or Jul 2001. That is a long time. It takes about two or three years to get settled in, to get others to know you, for yo to make your mark and show people that your views have the same rights as others. WebHostingTalk is a great community, same as here, only at WebHostingTalk they are very close-knit, and they don't like letting new people into the community if they don't know that person - if you stick to the book, keep by their rules, and post lots of good posts that show politeness, professionalism and posts which are actually correct in what they say, you'll do just fine there. ;)

Not sure why that happened, havent been any problems here, forum has actually been pretty busy the last few days so lots of people are coming on and no-one else has contacted me about problems.
If you ever do have anymore problems email admin @ hosting-talk.net and let me know, I will try a few things and see what the problem is when your having it.

Thanks, will do. I've added Hosting-Talk to the trusted sites list on I.E., and so far *touch wood* all is going well. :)
Will, however, contact you if anything happens again. ;)

What was this "stupid" thing you did HostTheBest?
