How important is a websites design to you when choosing a web host?

Some web hosts out there have pretty basic, but still professional looking sites that don't try too hard to look impressive. On the other end you may see some hosts that offer over the top designs for some sort of "wow" factor. How much does a web hosts site design influence you to use their service or not?

When I was not a hosting and shopping around (the same now pretty much when I am looking at others) I tend to look for the not so over the top sites. I prefer things most all things in life minimal it seems that way you can steer clear of the BS and see right down to what the site is talking about. Most times when I see a site that is over done, I think they are full of it.

Well you know, I'm not really interested in bling and the big flashy stuff. But I do expect to see a professional site-one that doesn't look like it was produced by a 15 year old guy who is trying to impress a girl. I don't want to see it over done.

I expect a tidy, well written site that has been put together by a person with a good grasp of English. I don't ask much....

I wouldn't too mind since I will look at their feedback rahter than just their site looking. All I care is their server up time and the customer service standard. If a outage happened how long they take to fix a problem. Etc.

The looking not my first choice.

Hello,

It is important to have functionality in the website rather than design and look also do not see the site for deciding about the company just check other informations

Yes, I think the visitors actively look for the information what made them to visit from a specific place towards a specific page. A resourceful and information intensive site will definitely get the score.

Presentation is always a plus - after all you are trying to attract clients.
It is not a big issue if sites don't offer to much "flair" I am sure their services are top notch as we cannot judge a book by it's cover's.

I feel that a website should look professional and pleasant, but nothing too complicated or irritating, especially those stupid talking flash banners. Those things absolutely drive me up the wall!

Like most responders, a simple but professional site appearance seems to me the way to go. No English errors - that's a big one for me - but also some indication that the people behind the site know what they're doing.

The question is what people other than hosts like most of us here think. Quite possibly, people in various market segments (though not all) are actually looking for that "wow" experience.

There is a similar discussion on WHT and the overwhelming response from users was "Yes, it does matter".

(Glad we have a new site being relaunched soon)

A professional design is important. If a company doesn't take the time to build a professional, easy to navigate website, why should I take the time to sign up?

A good looking design is a positive step in gaining customers attention, however if it is easy to read, use and navigate is another big factor. All the information and all questions which a client may have should be there with a few simple clicks.

I personally think the site design should not be a big factor when you choose a provider. I remember when I first saw Google and Ebay sites. They were so plain. So "unprofessional". However, they were easy to use. Their technology were superb.

I think its important. The better the design the more neat they are and money they make. I think. Also it inspires me.
