How do we do it?

Good Afternoon,

One thing that I have noticed throughout browsing the Hosting Discussion forums is it is always the same members, same post, and there is no new traffic coming.

Forums, people, and information aren't useful unless they all come somewhere and share. I am apart of many forums as I believe many of you are. I feel as if Hosting Discussion could be a better resource.

How do you feel as if US (current members) could help Hosting Discussion grow?

All forums have "core" members.
Even large forums you will find have a very small percentage of active registered users.

HD is growing but things take time.

Other than to keep posting... (and telling others about HD - of course)... I uh, I don't know.

One major way that you can help HD is to contribute. Becoming a "core" member will help not only HD, but yourself. Being an active participant, not only an advertiser is advertising in itself. By showing the hosting community dedication to the industry and your business, you will instill confidence in those that come here looking for a host as well as your current customers. Business aside, I feel that it's important to be an active participant because you don't know how influential you can actually be. Many many people come here to simply read the posts and learn. They may choose not to become a member and post, but you are certainly contributing to the community. Believe it or not, there is a wealth of information here to learn and grow from.

There is no way to force people to come here and post. The best that you can do to help HD is to become active yourself, which I see that you are doing from your post count and join date.

Execl Hosting,

I agree with everything you say. And, yes I do posts a lot. I enjoy being on forums and spend most of the day providing to our members and the forum communities a like. It is something that I enjoy doing.

If anyone has any great ideas please feel free to post.

That was intelligent. Might explain why you've been banned - about 4 times.

Advertising is a privilege, not a right.

I think if the HD add some awards (free domains, free hosting) it will atract more people and keep them active, also why not adding a cash boarder wich could be used to trade funds, it really would keep people active. I think the problem its not about HD is'nt great but their many big hosting forums out there, you have to give people a reason to join you and not join other forums, so you have to be specail, also the market place is'nt really big down here !!!

For me i become an active member in a forum if i find a market place to advertise my business  or if the forum leader's are nice :santa:

Thats my opinion, hope somesone to agree with me :agree:

Thanks

Couldn't have said it better myself. :)

Does not seem like a bad idea... but could attract a few idiots... posting random stuff everywhere to gain the awards. I think they have a reason to join is to communicate with others, post offers, help people, reply on requests, get there company banner on the forums.

HostingDiscussion does have a rewards store, where you can use your points that you have gained for posting to buy hosting related items. The reason why HD does not offer web hosting as a reward is that it could become too much of a hassle to setup accounts and we would also have the problem of selecting a hosting company. We did have a feature where members could donate points, but after finding a way the system could be abused, it was disabled.

Nice, Rewards; I think I will be here for a while :)
As for Hosting Offers I would be against it to be honest.

Do you get points for reffering people to the boards?
Regards,

Hosting as a reward would not make much sense here (at least not right now). Most of the members here are hosts themselves, so they would not be looking for hosting as a reward. Second, HostingDiscussion needs to remain impartial when it comes to hosting companies, so selecting a host for such a reward would be a challenge, and could be costly if not sponsored. However, everyone is always looking for incentives, and I think that the reward store that is currently offered is sufficient.

That is valid point actually Xcel Hosting
Most of the users which are not hosts do not have a high rated Posts because they wont be getting the valid points for there posts; most of the time anway...

Domain Names on the other hand do work for both "parties".
