Hosting-Talk.net still higher alexa ranking than HostingRefuge.com

Will parking the HT domain here really help, as all the links there go to HT again rather than going to HR, so it'll be like HT used to be in a way?

www.Hosting-Talk.net

all parked to it.
The forum on HT was closed before so none of the links worked, I had a page up saying the forum was closed, meaning the posts werent showing anyway.
Now any links for Hosting-Talk.net will go directly to HostingRefuge.com

I dont really care about the alexa ranking in that manner because it means people going to HT will now come directly, meaning less people will get lost ;)
 
Yeah I know but when you park a domain thats the only way it will go.
I dont think theres anything wrong with people still using the old domain of hosting-talk.net to access the forum instead of hostingrefuge.com/net/org because it wont make any difference.
 
But surely it cant help boost hostingrefuge though, as the spiders and things will keep going over the old site rather than realising theres a new site
 
I wouldnt have even thought about that GamesCreation :)

I do that on a load of my sites, I have them all parked so people dont try register my domains, ie. I get .org .net .com
How would you change it so the search engine spiders would just do the main domain?
 
Usually handy to use the meta tags stick the full domain names in and if possible stick a couple of 1px gifs or something somewhere that link to the parked domains, so it looks like link-to's and the parked domains are included in the search results :)
 
Is there anyway to stop the search engine spidering with parked domains domains?
With my site I just want to have the one domain on search engines but still want the .org and .net to go to my own main domain, and not keep the other domain in the browser and make all links with the other domain
 
Bad thing is if they go to the same site, it lowres your PR as it says it is duplicate content, soi having multiple domains to the same thing is bad. You can get around it by blocking the search engines using the other domains which arent the main ones by using meta tags or a robot file

You could always change all the links from relative links to static links, so they will all link to hostingrefuge.com/index.php?blah rather than just index.php?blah
 
The alexa rank isnt worth too much, I think they only count it by the number of people that visit a site that has their toolbar installed.
I dont know many people that does have it installed.

Can you change links to static links in vBulletin without effecting the running of the forum GamesCreation?

I dont know for certain, but I know you can with almost every other board software. Maybe a mod if its not already possible, but it should be.
