Hosting Children

Have you ever knowingly had a client who was a child? Someone who perhaps was paid for by their parent, and had help setting up?

How did you feel about hosting said client.

Same here - As long as they get permission from their parents / guardians then I have no problem - I will always do a quick verification call anyway.

Yes and no. Yes children have used accounts but they are NOT able to legal sign or agree to most conditions under law. So technically the account needs to be established by their parents.

As for whether we have any problem hosting minors, its no problem. A lot of minors are great programmers and its really a great thing to do for them in many cases.

I agree that it seems that many minors are the geekiest amongst us, and so yes, perhaps they are the least likely to need a high level of support with their hosting. Do you have any special monitoring, or do you occasionally check on minor's sites to make sure they aren't hosting anything inappropriate or would that be considered an invasion of privacy?

I don't have any problem with a child ordering hosting from me. If anything happens then their parent is held responsible. I just keep an eye to make sure they aren't doing anything illegal such as hosting warez or anime media ;).

I have had parents sign up before and spoken with them too. I had no problems with hosting those under 18 as long as the parents understood what they were paying for and what their child would be doing.

I think that you need to take that easy guys because no one child can have credit cadr or paypal account. So I think that is easy to take.

I do all the time. There are a lot of kids out there that set up Clan web sites for their games. In fact thats how I got started in web site design and hosting

I have seen sites that seemed to be ran by teens and for teens. My son visits one occasionally. I would think that somewhere along the way that an adult would have to be giving guidance as to how the site should be ran. Although, one of those sites had some very colorful language that one would think a mature adult wouldn't allow. I know I added it to our block list so my kids couldn't go back there again.

Youtube is full of colourful language and insults in the comments for most video's and is run by Google (a multi billion dollar company) who you would have thought would be adults too ;) It's just one of them things that some companies allow.
