Hosting advice for large disk space

I am first time going to host a site.
My site needs
1. 100GB space
2. 500GB data transfer
3. ASP.net 2.0
4. MS SQL Server 2005
5. Ajax 1.1
6. Silverlight 1.0
These are the basic requirements and budget is $15/month. Please suggest such a hosting provider for me.

Thanks in advance.

There is no such thing as a host with those requirements in that price range, period.

If you get a quote in that range you can expect your site to go down regularly.

If you were to up your budget to $80 or more for an unmanaged dedicated server you might get what you need. I doubt it though.

Agreed, that does seem a bit ambitious! $15/month would get you 100Gb storage on Amazon S3 but your bandwidth would cost 5 times that and you'd still need a webserver.

The 500GB of data transfer will cost some too unless the host is seriously overselling and I would guess if you get any where near 500Gb you will probably get suspended some how for over use of other system resources.

I would recommend going for a dedicated server in the $100 - $180 price range which would cover all those although if you need it managed then you might need to pay out a bit more.

Yikes. I would have to agree with the others. up your budget. That price point is going to be next to impossible to meet.

You wont get those resources for $15 a month, especially on windows.

You may come across sites which say the can but they will be overselling so expect a performance degradation if you decide to host with them.

For all that you would be looking at a high end VPS or a low - medium spec dedicated server.

Godaddy is an option. You will get .net/sql server at a very cheap rate and also the space and bandwidth you need. But you wont get access to enterprise manager for SQL server, you will be forced to use their control panel for data export/import.

Another option is startlogic, but they dont offer sql server. There are few other companies offering windows hosting with sql server, but you really have to look for a company that oversells a lot!

Increase your budget, get a dedicated server, or you can just get hosting from another overseller and never be able to use up all of your resources.

If this is your first time hosting, are you sure you will really require those resources? In any case you can find some reliable dedicated servers for a good price, increase your budget or re-calculate your actual instant resource usage and gage it from there.

good luck
