Hi blog server is under DDoS attack. It is nginx with fastcgi with wordpress. Any idea how to tune nginx to reduce damage?

hmm ddos attack is some thing that distrubs every one solution is some hardware firewall

Did you ever get your attack under control? Were you able to narrow down the IPs that were hitting you? If so, did you contact your web host or datacenter so they can block it on that level before ever getting to your site?

The easiest option would be to contact your host/data center. They are usually good about helping block this from their top level switches.

You might want to look at dot defender from applicure.com, its a great application that runs on your server that prevents such attacks and also gives you logs so you can see what is attempting to attack your server.

ddos atack is a terrible and hard thing....first of all,you should be ready for it...install some firewalls,some scripts on your site...
