Great site here.

I am an ex wireless systems designer, I am going back to school to finish my masters in Computer Science. I run a Deal/Coupon site, that started out as a Senior Project last year finishing my my BS. It is now a side job keeps me busy, and lets me tweak code all the time, play around with SEO. I have moved from a Shared hosting with Addaction to a VPS with Dinix. I have been happy so far with Dinix.

Does SEO stand for what I think it stands for or is that something else (Search engine optimization) ?

Ahh, i believe so. i was always wondering that. Because i think its time for me to get some SEO work done if that is what i means.
 
The best way to do well in search engines is to have good content on your website, then the links will come in and the search engines will recognise you. Better than trying tips and tricks to do well.
 
Well, if a lot of people link to you, it works in lots of ways. You move up in search engines (PR depends a lot on inbound links) and you get the extra traffic from people finding the links too.
 
So like, when you say link to. that mean like the more websites that has your url written on it the more links to it.


So like if someone when to 200 forums and made a post with there url it would help them?

Dont worry im not gonna do that.
 
No, the link hs to be from a site related in some way, and has to have a good PR itself.

Plus, search engines dont tend to take much in off of forum pages
 
Ah, ok so you have to get the websites. like the index page to have a link to you.

What if they put like a 88x31 button on there index page when you click on it takes you to my site.

Does that help the pr ?
 
alt tag ? can you explain that to me too? Sorry i know alot about some things but other i dont know crap about.
 
Where you have an image tag, the alt tag is what the search engines take in, people who dont have images on, and what comes up when you hold the mosue over an image

Every image you have should be alt tagged. To describe it to the Search engine, and to add keywords on your site, if somehow the image does not display, there is something there to describe the button, picture.
