Big sites like that can afford to make sure their site is secure so a hacker can not mess with them.
WHT makes lots of $ off their advertising slots yet they waited till something bad happened to step up security.
Well, there seems to be a lot of extremely knowledgeable hackers out there bent on destruction. And for all the flack when WHT went down, they appear to be thriving.
This had nothing to do with hacking. It was a denial of service attack, and no matter how much money you will spend protecting yourself, nobody is immune to it.

Correct...The site itself was not compromised by a hacker, it was being DOS attacked and we all know nothing is 100% safe when it comes to DOS/DDOS attacks.
Cracker? I don't see that as a term that'll catch on.I think the term should be cracker. Hacker is overuse in my book. I hacker is someone who like to hack things apart and see what make it work in anything(TV's, phones, computers etc) they then use there abilities to make good things out of there hack. A term I would like media and people to use is cracker. They like to cause destruction and use there knowledge for self empowerment be that making money etc..
Although, I have heard of special hardware that some large companies and websites employ as part of their private network that help fight DOS attacks. Something that will actively block IPs when they start to pour in...
