Hello everyone,

(if i posted this in the wrong forum, please move it thanks!)

Recently, the owner of IOUHOSTING.com, now the-1-host.com bought a template from me for 175$. It was my first sale, so I as excited and didn't ask for any deposit, he told me that he was going to send me the money by mail the day after. The next day, he asked me to edit the site (add more page, changed buttons...etc). He said he would pay me 2K if I can do it over night. I did all those that he asked and he also said that he would send the money on the following day. I waited for a week, but no $$$, so I asked him again he said something like there were bout 5-6 tornadoes touched down in his area so the mail was delayed. I waited again, asked him again about 5-6 days later. He said he miss-spelled my address so the mail was return to him and he would send it the next day. So, about 1 week later and nothing come. I contacted his YiM, someone named Jessica answered. I asked for Justin, she told me that Justin got into a wreck and was in ICU. She told me that he was going to be there for about 3 weeks. 1 week later I called his phone on the hosting page, guess who answered?? It was Justin!! I told him who I was and right away he pretended that he couldn't hear what I said because of the static........long story I won't say it no more, u guys get the point.

The one that bought my tempate and didn't pay was:

JUSTIN WILKINS
*****, TN
Phone: ***-***-****

So just want to alert the community about him. Stay away from the-1-host.com by all means.

Since I got ripped, I uploaded the design with everything (pictures, pages, psd, htmls) for free. If you want it please post here or contact me

thanks for reading

Intresting, however i would have thought "hold on a second" when the template was $175 and he said, hey... il give you 2K ($2,000) if you make a few changes overnight.

Very strange. Shame people are like this though, you cant trust many people in this day and age. :(

Whatever this guy did it does not justify you posting his phone number on a public forum.
Hopefully you will learn from this and watermark or protect your work in the future.

if you can please delete his fone # for me, thanks. I sure learn my lesson. About the free template i think i have to reconsider it. It's it a 7-8 fully coded page. Lots of work, but I'll give it away at a cheap price. Would u like to see it?

Good luck with your future design work neotruong. It's a shame that things like this happen and people like that pass themselves off as business people.

Sorry to hear you had this experience, neotruong. The good thing is it appears you have learned a valuable lesson. Sorry, but I had to laugh when reading all the classic typically adolescent excuses he used - tornado, wrong mailing address, car wreck / ICU, phone line static - I think the only 2 he missed were his dog ate the check, and he broke his hand in an accident and therefore could not write a check for another 3 weeks (yes, someone tried to use that one on me). :D

Anyways, good luck with future business transactions.

neotruong, the thing to keep in mind is always, always, always have a signed contract in place prior to doing any work whatsoever. You should do this even for your best friend.

You would be surprised at what people will try to pull over on you, and even more surprised to find that it would be someone you least expected before someone you expect.

Always have a signed contract before doing any work. Then you at least have some legal backing, should the client not deliver on their end.

he can buy a template for less than $100 why would he pay 2k?
Because such was the verbal agreement between them.
Not all designs are worth $100, the value is up to firm-client to negotiate on.

I can open up the paper, and buy a car for less than $500. At the same time I can buy a different car for $5,000. Which one would you trust to start every time during subzero weather?

Edit: Or even, to take your family, your kids, or your grandma to the store and back without falling apart?
