Just wondering, what happens when someone places fake information for their domain? I looked up a whois for a domain name, and realized the user had all 11111's and 123456etc.. No real addres, only first name.. etc..

Isn't their a rule against this?

I believe there is but it isn't enforced.

Registrars are required by ICANN to routinely remind customers to update their contact info. One can ultimately lose the domain if the whois info is bogus.

So contact the registrar if you feel strongly about it.

Whois details aren't allowed to be fake, as everyone else has said before.

That being said, is it breaking the rules to use Whoisguard, since Namecheap provides it for free?

No. The WHOISGuard only protects the details from the public but the registrar still has your details on file.

Actually registrar insisted for proper details while registering the domain but as customer can change the details after getting the control panel that why this problem comes up. Due to lack of proper monitering from ICANN the problem still exist. There shd be some defined clause in ICANN ruling for this.
