FaceBook Advertising Promoting Page or Post?

Hi,
Is it better to promote a Facebook Page or a Facebook Post ?

They both sound similar, but, is it better to,

1. Promote a page where the user may like the page and check the offers at a later date?

or

2. Promote a post which includes a product / direct link to your website?

Looking to hear your experiences with both!

Thanks!

Hi,

Promoting a page is better , you increase your likes , you get can offer the customer new promotions later on.
while boosting a post will give you clicks only.
b/w many times you will get click/likes only without any actual sale , this is due to bots.

I feel like neither is a good option. Facebook is hardly the #1 source to generate hosting leads in the first place, so I'd leave that part of marketing to organic growth only.

The second you are going to pay to promote either a post or a page, FB algorithm is going to intentionally downplay your future posts, pushing you towards paying, every time.

Oh, that is shocking to hear, because there was a offer they were sharing for promoting the page which seemed quite cheap.

Apart from Facebook, what would you recommend? Twitter or Google Ads?

I've never had an experience with Twitter, but Google obviously is probably the most productive of all, given you know what you are doing. But if you don't want to burn through your budget, it takes serious planning. Guys like Conor from BigRedSEO has done that for years, many of those specifically in the web hosting industry. I've had several conversations with him about it, and he's written many posts about what it takes to do it right. I suggest looking up his posts in the Promotion and Marketing forum.

As an social media expert, it depend on demands what really you or your client want. Sometime i had been promoted post instead of page and other promotions.

In case of post, you want that audience need to come on your specific post which your found good for promote.

Both have different objectives.

If you looking to get the pages like and for branding purpose one can go with promoting the page.

And if looking to promote the specific product on a post then go for post promotion.

As the others have mentioned, promoting either is very different.

In MOST marketing situations, you're going to be promoting a specific item. In that case, the Post would be the route - or a direct Facebook Ad.

If you're looking to build an audience, then a Page is good, however in those cases, we've always promoted via a Post to encourage users to like our page.

There was a new change at Facebook just recently (October 2019) which now changes ads in the news feed. It was previously rolled out to a limited base, but it's now being rolled out to everyone. Essentially you can now pay for placements (it's an enhancement over the previous tool).

At the end of the day, for most of our clients, we utilize Facebook as a branding tool, and a communication tool (sponsored messages, stories, marketplace, news feed, live, and messenger). It's used more to keep in communication with existing and future clients.

If we can get the user to our site, then our Facebook Pixel (and Google Pixel) takes over and hits their feeds and search results etc.

So it depends on what you're wanting out of Facebook (and Instagram) when it comes to advertising and brand awareness.

Here's a recent article that you should probably read regarding Facebook Advertising, brand awareness, and conversion issues - https://www.socialmediaexaminer.com...ds-customer-awareness-principles-ralph-burns/

It’d be interesting to know if anyone has actually put any money into social media advertising, and if so, what was the outcome? But as others have said I think the money would be better spent on Google for example.

I can only speak from experience, which is why I've posted to this thread.

I post and advertise on Facebook daily. I run ads on Google daily too. I also run enhanced campaigns for specific days/times.

While we do work with clients in various industries, we also work with one in the web hosting industry. They have a budget of $500 on Facebook and $1000 on Google ads. This has been running for over a year and has been profitable for them. Their main target is VPS, Managed Hosting and Dedicated Servers. They do not offer any "normal" shared hosting - and nothing under $30/month.

It totally depends on what you're looking for...
It's always best to create page and promote it further so that visitors can go through page/offers and like your page, so that further you don't need to promote a particular post.
on the other side, If you're looking to promote a particular product then you can go with post promotion.
