When your running a reseller? Does it look bad, when someone whois you and it says Domain Registar: 1&1 Inc. or what ever. (ex. Go daddy).
 
I doubt very much anyone cares which registrar you used to register your domain name.
I doubt that more than a handful of people would even check.

All domains have to be registered with a registrar, so unless you are one-yourself, you'll have to use an existing registrar for them.

There are a few that people will see and think less of your business - the 2 you mention for a start ...

Clients care about your server and service, not your domain. As long as you provide good service, they do not care about 1&1.
 
You should have a ten thousands of customers to become ICANN accredited domain registrar and to be able to pay the fees. Most small, middle-sized and even some larger web hosts buy domain names from ICANN accredited registrars. This is different business. There is nothing to be ashamed for!
