Does Page Rank Mean Anything Anymore?

It seems that one of the ways to determine if you were successful with your marketing was your page rank, but these days its not really something people pay attention to as much as the traffic and conversion rate. Does page rank still rank or is it obsolete?

I personally feel that it only ranks if you want to sell links or adspace on your website. I think that it should still be considered though because most people see Google Rank as a type of authority factor

page rank really means nothing and is useless becuase google is not very accurate. some sites get more hits then others yet are ranked lower and have more links

As far as Google will continue with Page rank factor, it has some value but obviously PR is not going to help you to obtain good position in SERP's and so on sales conversion.

I can`t agree with you. It's no surprise that the number of inbound links and the PageRank had a large influence on the page rankings on Google.

PageRank. not really. But it still can be used as a measure of success in link building, etc....

Success doesn't require PR, even though some people think its crucial.

Google anlaytics of page rank are very standard and reliable source of quality. It shows the quality back-links a website has rather than 'quantity'. So if your site has a backlink in one PR1(+) site, then thats some quality. It really makes th competioin fair as most of 'em uses just bots/auto-surfing feature to gain more traffic to their sites. PR is quality

page rank is just a fact that on how google thinks your site is important to certain subject, the higher it is, google think your site will be much more important than will lower page rank.

but when you rank your site, you will concentrate how to rank your site better in google for certain keywords rather than page rank... it is really a myth people think high PR = high ranking but in some cases it is not...

hopes that help.

I find page rank interesting to see when it changes every few months but it's nothing I really pay close attention to or promote in a sales pitch on my sites.

It definitely matters. If you are selling something on your website, a lot of people out there would make up their mind using page rank.

really --
call up 20 people who are business owners and ask them about google page rank and i am willing to bet 18 will say uhh

the 2 that that will tell you are web hosting companies or in IT

i do not believe that page rank effects people buying decisions on a site and most people dont even have the google toolbar that shows it

I'd have to agree with Rebel there. Most people don't know anything about it-if you are not a webmaster there is no reason for you to know about it. Its just not relevant to most people.

Page rank will measure the importance of the particular webpage. It means the reputation on the domains too.

It will not affect people buying decisions. But it means a lot to SEO expert and webmasters.

It won't influence buying decisions you are right. But, it might affect the number of people who find you. A high PR should in theory mean more exposure from Google and hence in theory should get you more visitors. As long as you are doing what needs to be done to convert visitors to customers, then PR will help indirectly.

Yes, somehow I think PR does matters when you want to sale your site. Also, some CPC, CPM ads companies determines your site through PR.
