I've always been wondering.. Do people actually use the webmail included in our hosting packages? Personally I use Gmail for my emails, although I kinda like Roundcube too..

Well I use web mail (squirrelmail) for only business purpose. For personal use I prefer Yahoo mail, because I don't like to use Gmail. FYI, just 2 days ago I was trying to send some pics to my friends and once again Gmail showed its freaky nature.

I used to up until I finally decided to give Google Apps a try, and fell in love.. Now I'm switching to Google Apps for all of my domains. :)

I switched a few short years ago from Outlook to Gmail, which I decided on after looking through most of the popular web-based clients (free and paid). I thought to myself why the headache of running your own mail server, following up on updates, etc when Gmail has a very active development team behind them.

I haven't looked back since. Gmail is focused on productivity and I noticed just how much more efficient my days have become after I settled in and set it up as per my requirements.

About 4-5 years ago haha!

I prefer building our own mail servers now, corporate wise we use qmail-toaster/qmail

No webmail interface, mainly configure via unix and just connect strait from the desktop for mail.

I use the email a host provides in the control panel, but I own all my servers so I do not use shared hosting. I use email from Gmail for personal use and YouTube and other places.

Sure, I use it all the time. I think it's a little easier to setup than Google's hosted mail, though definitely less feature-rich.

Hi,
If you run a service, product related website then it is advisable to have Email account with your domain name like markruber at yourwebsitename.com.. Even medium and large organization use their company name for Email. Gmail, yahoo, Hotmail are just for personal purposes.

many of our clients use the webmail features and options - I use it from time to time when I'm on the road, but we get many tickets any time there's an issue on a server where the webmail isn't working etc.

I also like to use the web mail sometimes, not using the Outlook client installed on my computer and for business purposes, the web mail solution can be very great, especially if you are on a journey and have access to a shared computer or are at the airport. In such cases, accessing your email account from thousands of miles away from your home or office would give you a great feeling.

The only point coming to my mind is that why there are only a few options when you access the web mail section of your hosting account. Today with so much scripts offered by hosting packs, we should expect to have tens of solutions and interfaces to use for accessing the web mails rather than only a few options which have been online for more than a decade and still having a traditional style.

If you have enough money, starting 2Gb inbox email service with any hosting provider which become a partner with ResellerClub. It costs just $2.50 monthly for unlimited mailbox.
