Do you prefer customized accounts?

Some hosting provider do offer the account customization, no matter if it is "pay per slice", when you may increase or decrease the specs of account by the fixed values, or just choose the set of specs having several options of each: space, bandwidth, software and other features.

Others do prefer standard hosting plans, like "basic, standard, professional" which differ by the specs, ascending.

So we'd like to know how much the customizable plans are preferred, and if they are found more usable than the usual ones. Tell us which kind would you prefer having choice.

thanks in advance.

Thanks. That's a sort of research, when we see if many hosting mates offer, and customers require the named type of hosting plans.

Generally only few customers ask for custom plan, well i guess some do really need it, as they have different needs.

Actually, we expected for this, as we also have experience in providing, but we come to the thing by creating something inbetween, when there are many shared plans of wide range of specs, and customizable dedicated servers in order to be interesting for both those who prefer fixed and customizable plans.

Please, continue posting.

Customization is great however the toolset for marketing and promoting customized plans makes it difficult. Consumers should always ask if they need a customized plan, many hosts will accommodate. We always welcome requests for unique plans to fit the exact needs of the customer.

Yeah, I think such practice, when except for the standard plans there is an opportunity of getting something completely unique, makes benefit to the both sides of interaction - a host and a client. Clients receive all they want, hosts receive the clients. The price is also suppose to be individually set.

When you do customizable plan this means that it is much harder to project the capacity you should have on a stand-alone server or on a cluster. The reason is that customers could request a huge amount of HDD space any minutes and the provider must have it. This makes the customizable plans at least 25% more expensive.

Allowing customization is a great way for hosting providers to establish and build a personal relationship with their clients.

I think, if the administrator has the ability to support and manage all the issues, then it is great to add customization options with regular hosting plans to make sure all questions are resolved effectively. In addition, knowledge of the product is a plus point. Including customized hosting plans shows the web host's versatility in web hosting services.

We offer this sort of thing, but in the 1yr + we've been in business, it's only been used twice.

There are people out there who realize they don't need loads of space, but need a lot of BW, and vice-versa. It's good to offer.

I believe that you should stay such feature to make your host more trustworthy but only as an addition to ordinary plans

We offer this sort of thing, but in the 1yr + we've been in business, it's only been used twice.

So, it means customized plans are less popular than a standard offers.

Anyway, it is still useful for both sides to have such an offer type.

A confused prospect never buys - there's a limit to how much you should customize your plans, or even how many plans you should offer.

We haven't had anyone ask for a custom plan.
I doubt many would customize plans in shared hosting, but it's fairly common for VPS's, etc.

Hello,

I understand the customized accounts are much better as compare to the standards plans as every customer has different sort of requirements and accordingly he or she selects the web hosting keeping in view his/her requirements.

The requirements of business of every customer vary so usually customer go towards customization rather standard plans.

Based upon my judgement and experience, I also prefer more customized accounts as compare to standard plans.

I think it's a win-win for both hoster and client. The client gets space tailored to their needs and the hoster doesn't have to allocate more resources than strictly required. It's still a good idea to have fixed packages for starting websites or people who generally don't care too much about how much resources they have.
