Dear Valued Client,

Pegasus Web Technologies, (<a href="http://www.pwebtech.com" target="_blank">www.pwebtech.com</a>),

DedicatedNow, (<a href="http://www.dedicatednow.com" target="_blank">www.dedicatednow.com</a>) a leading web-

hosting company located in Parsippany, New Jersey, is proud

to finally announce its much anticipated launch of our new fully

owned datacenter in Clifton, NJ. In the works for more than a

year of planning, coordinating, building and testing, the facility

is now live and operational. The new datacenter will

incorporate all existing servers to be moved from our current

datacenter, to this new facility, followed by sales resuming in

the middle of July 2004. Due to our past capacity issues, our

new facility boasts enormous growth potential allowing us

capabilities of up to 55,000 sq ft of pure datacenter floor

space, and ease of access to backbone providers. Currently,

the facility incorporates over 7,500 sq ft of completed raised

floor data center space, along with 4,500 sq ft of corporate

office space which includes a front reception area, conference

rooms, and ample space for our employees. The new

datacenter has been carefully planned from inception to

overcompensate for such factors as cooling, generators, UPS’s,

backup generators, fire suppression, and much, much more.

Our new facility has been set in place with 7,500 sq ft of

raised flooring, 10 (ten) 20 ton AC units, CCTV system,

Biometric Security system, double pre-action fire suppression

system, MCI OC48 Full Sonnet Ring, with Dual OC192’s being

installed now. We have chosen MCI and Above.net for our

backbone providers, and are adding Level3 and Global Crossing

in the near future.

The specific date of the scheduled move is Sunday, July 11th

at 12:00am eastern-standard time. The move will be done as

late as possible, during which time, the network will be

rerouted to our Clifton facility, and 30-40 movers will assist

with the transition of the servers from our NAC facility to the

new Clifton facility along with our in-house administrative

team. Teams will be assisting with removal of the servers,

packing, transporting, unpacking and reconnecting service.

Other team members will be online and available to answer

questions over our off-network support site, which will be

provided to our customers shortly to discuss the DC move.

The estimated downtime will approximately be four to six

hours.

While the facility has undergone strenuous testing, there is

always the chance of small hurdles along the way, however,

most if not all have already been compensated for at this

time. This move we feel is in the best interest of our

organization and customers, to provide overall better, faster,

and more stable control over our facilities and continue the

growth and dedication that you have come to expect.

Last, but certainly not least, Pegasus Web Technologies is

changing its name to (FORTRESS ITX) <a href="http://www.fortressitx.com." target="_blank">www.fortressitx.com.</a>

With the induction of the new facility we are adapting our

business to reinforce our new datacenter and incorporate the

brand recognition to the public.

We feel that the new name will better suite the services we

are offering and support the brand of web-hosting we have

worked extremely hard over the last year and a half to

develop.

We appreciate all the continued support from our clients and

the community and look forward to providing you with

exceptional products and services for many years to come.

Thank you,

-Fortress ITX Management Team

I'm sure many people will have various thoughts about this, many will be happy about the move, and many will be unhappy about the downtime.
Doing it late just means it will suit US clients more, but not European, Aus etc.
If anyone here is with DedicatedNOW, what are your thoughts on the move? What do you think about the downtime? Will it effect your business much? Will it effect your uptime guarantee and mean you will be out of pocket because of your uptime guarantee?

Yes, I guess that too, 4-6 Hours of downtime... That is killer:(

I was planning on testing them but they didn't had any offers running. However, I will see if I can do a Tour to their Facility

4 to 6 hours to move how many servers? what about the re-routing of DNS though the internet and propogation? I hate to be pesimistic but that takes longer then 4-6 hours.

I doubt they meant 4-6 and were going to move all at the same time, but probably meant each server would be down 4-6 and at different stages through the move.
Well they TOTALLY screwed up anyway, been down for a lot longer than that, many had servers down for over a day.
Some still have servers down and there is no info on what happened.

I don't think they planned this very well.
First of all, they didn't give enough notice, I know many customers complained about not getting enough notice but hosts couldn't do anything about that, even if they gave the noticifation as soon as the received it.

Obviously they have really done something wrong with having so much downtime and servers still not up.

They haven't given a reason for all the downtime and I think that is one of the worst things.
Hosts don't have anything to tell their customers..

Maybe they didn't adviced their Customers because they would leave them, don't you think? ;)

I don't think they would do that, more customers would be unhappy because of the short notice.
I know I would far rather know at least a month in advance if the server was going to be down so long.
I'm sure a lot of others would feel the same way.
I wouldn't leave a DC because of this if I did have proper notification and the downtime was what they said, not a lot more than what they gave as the expected downtime.

I was affected by this move. 18.5 hours downtime for the server my reseller account was on. Communication from them sucked big time. I just had bad luck - I purchased a dedicated box 2 hours before they made the annoucement with the move. Not enough time to move all my sites.

Anyway - the time frame of 4-6 hours was a joke. They moved about 1500 servers. Impossible - even with double the staff.

Did you get anything because of the problems Christoph?
I'm sure they would have offered something to their customers for a problem that big.

No. And I did not bother anymore. I moved my accounts over and closed my account. Never looked back.
