DDR vs SDRAM

Would you use SDRAM in your servers? Why or Why not?
Would you use 1gb SDRAM instead of 512mb DDR ram?

How much does DDR really outperform SDRAM?

I have upgraded all my servers to 1GB DDR Ram...I think I would go over DDR instead of SDRAM simply because of the fact that it is more reliable and has a better capacity in terms of memory...every bit helps :)

When you start talking memory with DDR and SDRAM you really have to think about the processor & i/o devices installed on the machine as well.

There is no point in having 3GB of ddr memory on a Pentium 2ghz celeron with a 2GB 5400rpm drive. Its just a waste of memory.

However with todays technology rapidly expanding, DDR enhaced with dual + heat spreading technology makes it a killer combination.

Any 2ghz+ xeon or h/t processor with 4 sticks of 512MB DDR PC3500 corsair memory and a nice scsi drive will just tear up the server scene. (I built one of these a few weeks ago for a client. This puppy flew!

I'd only use DDR Ram. On all my P4 servers, I use 1536mb drr ram while on all my new Dual Intel Xeon servers I'll be using 3072mb ddr ram.
I'd now never use SDRAM, DDR is certainly the way to go now a days in this world of technology. :)
