I'd like to take just a brief moment to thank Conor for the great posts he's made on Hosting Discussion. I've been told many times in order to be successful, you need to model yourself after successful people - emulate them. I pay close attention to everything Conor writes, because he offers real value in his commentaries. For my money, Conor is a huge asset to the Hosting Discussion community. :D

I do agree. Conor is a fantastic guy. Not only his knowledge and expirience of the industry is through the roof, he is a terrific person. He still refuses to take the small fund I prepared specifically for server move process at least to cover some start-up setup expenses. He spent a lot of time and went all out to make sure we received the best attention and service. I am still trying to figure out what his PayPal ID is so that I can just send the money! If anyone knows, please PM me!

PS: That's right, Conor, I made it public! Now deal with it. :D

You should sign up for a shared hosting account and pay by PayPal. :) Then send the money and close the account.

I don't want to mess with their billing system and then get the wrong account terminated :), but that gives me an idea on how to get to PayPal address! :D

Conor and his billing system I am sure is perfect. That would be ironic though. Sign up for an account to give him some money and then they accidentally delete someone else's account.

I'll second this. Conor is a great guy and has some good information. He is definitely a great asset to the forums.

What you mean? FREE dedi? !!!
I think it's common enough for popular hosting (and other webmaster related) forums to manage to get "free" hosting. There's typically some branding to have out of it, and and a free ad here and there. In the end, from the outside, it looks like a barter.

Back to Conor, this very thread in itself is like a proposal to build him a statue. That only happens to remarkable personalities. :)

Me and Conor got here at HD around the same time and at that time I was in the very early stage of my company. He help me out a lot with questions I had. His insight in this industry is great for small web host like me and people starting out like me :P. Thank you again for all of your knowledge and being friendly at the same time. +100 to you

I go away for the weekend for a seminar and I come back to a love fest ;) Really I do apprecaite the kind words.

I've had many conversations with people here on this forum both on the phone, private messages and via instant messages, and it's really the community that allows another person to grow. There's a wealth of information provided here through the HD forums and what's great is that we don't have people who are trying to "one up" another person for the sake of doing it.

There are so many experiences that each of us have had in web hosting over the years, being able to share that and allow others to learn from your mistakes or fortunes is what it's all about. There's more than enough hosting customers on the internet that we can all get a piece of the pie and not have to hord the whole thing for ourselves. We all have our own niche markets, so sharing shouldn't be a problem.

When I talk to clients, I always tell them - "I don't want ALL your business, I just want most of it". I'm not greedy. I understand that there are other hosts out there that are better suited for the client (and I'll even give them recommendations for particular niches), but beyond that, we want the rest of their business if we deserve it.

With regards to the paypal fees and Artashes. When we were talking months ago, I told him to keep the money in his pocket and when I fly up there to visit some point next year, I'll collect on it and he can buy me a beer ;) Keeping the forums here online as much as possible and running as fast as possible is as much a benefit to you guys as it is to me! This is one of the places on my daily list of forums that I visit, so if it's slow or offline, I get upset ;)

And for Romes, NOTHING is ever free! There may not be a dollor figure changing hands, but there are other compensations through a barter network that pay the bills. We do this with a number of sites and forums (don't every one come flock to me looking for us to sponsor the site!). There's evaluations put in on BOTH sides of the table to make sure that the trade is of benefit to both parties. HostingDiscussion was a great fit for us, and for me personally. But NOTHING is ever FREE ;)

Thanks everyone for the kind comments and words. Would love to put faces to names and voices to them too, so if you ever get time and feel like chatting up a storm and trading ideas - drop me a PM, and I'll give you a number or skype or IM to call ;) Love hearing about other people, what they're doing, and how I can do something similar in my own market.
