Hi HD members,

Anyone on the forum currently using ColoUnlimited? - From what I can see they're offering a half cabinet for 399USD per month or a full cabinet for only 499USD.

How's their network? The support? Can't really beat the pricing because it's some of the best I've seen.

Tanner

We don't use them, but hear good things about their service, infrastructure.

You might want to check clearly about their remote hand service too, if you want to colo with them, and cannot fly to data center whenever your systems have issue. With cheap offer, usually they will need to charge something else.

Colo is much different than renting a dedicated server. I am not sure why you suggest the OP to try? Shipping servers into a datacenter, and then moving out after one or two month, if you are not happy with them, is a pain.

Just from looking at their website, I can tell you that they're either resellers or a division of another company as it's clearly printed on the right hand side "Powered By CoreXchange". Be wary of Colocation resellers as they tend to be a lot less helpful than the actual end company. CoreXchange seem to have been registered since 2006 and have a registered office in Infomart, Dallas. It appears.

Further reading, it is definitely a division of CoreXchange, if you read the copyright at the bottom of the page, they've announced a DBA for ColoUnlimited under CoreXchange.

Thanks for all the feedback - Just thought I'd ask and see what everyone's opinion was.

@b2netsolutions - Don't really want to risk shipping them 10+ servers with "giving them a try". Just don't feel it's the best of options!

@ gate2vn - Thanks for the information, from what I was reading it seems that some of the owners are previous directors of ThePlanet (Softlayer now). We also do intend to fly down their as we want to ensure the conditions are as to par from what their website says.

ColoUnlimited is a new brand of CoreXchange, that has been working long enough in this industry, and they own some data centers in Dallas, TX.

Thinking of it now I'm not too sure considering it only includes 16amps of power consumption for our servers. This can get quite expensive w/ housing let's assume 40 or so servers. There overages are quite expensive.

We're looking to purchase dual L5420's w/ 24GB RAM per unit. What the plan was is to offer rent to own options for clients and once the duration is up they could either Co-locate for much cheaper, or of course move their hardware elsewhere.

We have seen the demand for this, and this is why we're thinking if it's worth the option.

Right now we're happily offering HostDime services for a fraction of the cost because of us having an agreement to offer their services UN-Managed allowing us to give significant price discounts.

You should consider Sandy Bridge product line. It's really saving power meanwhile having good performance. Depends how many disk drives you have, 16A usable @110V should be enough for 2x servers at least, if not more.

Yeah - All of our VPS Nodes actually use HARDWARE RAID 10 so I can assume the worst for the power consumption. I may have to give them a shout and see what they can do for us and see if they have any suggestions.

I can guarantee that rack would be full after a few months. Don't really want to dish a whole ton of servers to them and if they're not willing to work with us have to worry about Downtime and Migration of clients.

Thanks for keeping up with HostingDiscussion!

I would suggest you not go to the sites that say top 10 hosting or anything of the likes because those are affiliate sites and for them the best host will be the one that pays them the most for passing you on to them.

From the reviews I've read, they seem top notch. I've talked to their sales team and they seem very accommodating.

I want to send a server down there for VPS's, but does anyone know the true tax situation down there.

Supposedly if you have a VPS customer down there and that customer had a storefront in Texas you have to charge sales tax on that customer. That seems overly complicated.

You also depending on the hosting company have to pay property tax on your server in Texas.
