Cheap Domain Names

Netfirms has a 4.95 price tag for registrations (for the first year). That's so cheap they're actually making a loss.

As for the cheapest hosting, I have no idea, nor would I recommend that approach when looking for hosting.

What do you mean by "very cheap". If the domain costs less than $10 it is important what kind of domain management tools a company offers. GoDaddy and Onlinenic are OK for cheap domains. About cheap web hosts they are tons out there.

When you go for cheap stuff, also be prepared to face cheap service and horrible experiences, There are people who sell domains for as low as $1.99 but that's only for the 1st year, so my advice is, if you really wanna go for cheap stuff just find out what will be stored for you after the 1st year and their rules and regulations coz some domain registrar block transfers, so you wont be able to do anything even if you want to move out

As Dev4vip has pointed out, please read the fine print when it comes to these super cheap domain name offers. You might not be able to transfer it and be stuck paying for a much higher renewal the following year when you want to move it and not be able to if you still wanted to keep it.

Karen, thanks for the pointer. But is it just me or I cannot find web hosting related information on their site? Could you please let us know where we can find more about what web hosting services this company offers?

Thank you.

**************.com offers free domain name for life if you buy a cheap shared budget web hosting from them. it costs $4.95/Month per 12 months and $3.95/Month per 24 months.

Unless a registrar is holding a special common domains (com, .net, .org) generally will not be found cheaper then $6.75. Most hosts offering domains for free or at a reduced price if you host with them will not allow you to move the domain until your contract is fulfilled. So, unless you know the company and it's performance very well, you'd be better off paying the full registration cost through a reputable reseller and sign up for month-to-month hosting until you have confidence in your host.

There is actually a new player in town. Namecheap.com not only offers low dot-com domain registrations, but have recently entered the web hosting area. Their prices are, how shall I put it... dirt cheap.

Namecheap is charging $9.29 for a .com. Do they have a reseller plan or cheaper program?

They release coupons from time to time that allow you to have further savings. www.dncoupons.com is a good site to keep track of those.

By reseller plan, do you mean a domain reseller or a hosting reseller plan?

Namecheap are infact a reseller of Enom so if you wanted a domain reseller accoun you should go to them directly. As far as im aware namecheap dont do reseller hosting

I remember hearing that before.

Although, it's possible to get discounts from some of Enom's resellers, Enom charges $195 as a one-time setup fee for $10.45 domains. In the past you might have encountered someone selling a $7.95 reseller account, but I believe that the lowest is now $8.95 and many resellers do not charge a setup fee.

ResellerClub offers domains for $8.99 when you deposit $199 to start your account. Resellers have more flexabiltiy with ResellerClub and may require a smaller deposit and charge slightly less per domain.
