Caffeine?

This is one of the few things this year I am going to really work towards chilling out on. I have gone from just sweet punch which is bad, to sweet tea, to coffee, then soda and now anything in between. Anyone have some decent New Year's things they are going to kick this year ahead?

I've done fairly well in the food department this past year - gotten more fresh foods, learned to cook a little - and while I do need my two cups of coffee a day or I get splitting headaches, I'm not going to try and cut that out or necessarily reduce it. (I'd be worried if I needed two full pots...or if the cups were 32-ounce cups of coffee.)

I need to get out and walk some more. I used to go on a nice 2-mile walk once a day - sometimes twice a day, especially in the summer months. Now that I live in a neighborhood with better access to some nice walking paths, I think it will be easier for me to walk daily rather than just "once or twice a week". This past two weeks I haven't gotten out as much, but when I have had to go out, I've had to walk through snow. Quite the workout...especially since Seattle does not know how to deal with all of this stuff. (We keep getting promised rain...and keep getting more snow.)

Yes, that would be one thing I also need to do. During the summer, I hope to muster the will to ride my bicycle, but I'm not sure what to do during the winter months.

I don't drink coffee, and I won't start to.

I spent the first half of last year on a health kick and it landed me in hospital needing surgery. I'll go easy this year.

Egg nog needs to go. My rear end is growing..... and yes caffeine is being abused is a big one for me. Not sure that I can kick that though yet, not till I relocate anyway. So come February 19th I can see myself having a really big head ache...

I drink to much coffee as well, but I stay away from the soda. Soda is much worse for you and coffee is not really bad if you drink it in moderation.

It's actually not too hard to reduce caffeine intake. I used to drink four or five cups a day, and then found that only the morning coffee and to some extent, the lunchtime coffee, were needed both for alertness and to avoid withdrawal headaches. Sometimes I even switch the second cup for tea...even green tea, which has less caffeine than black tea.
