Buying a server

Well it all depends on budget, etc.

you can get a server pretty much anywhere, but it's always best to do research on the company first.

A very good, down to earth company is Gnax.

First thing to do is looking if there is a contract period.. Many companies need that you have to take the server for 12 months.. This is a problem for a growing site..

Many people buy dedicated servers from **********. Nice company where you may even order the servers of desirable configuration.

Really? All I read are unverifiable or hearsay based recommendations.

That's true for most of their competitors too though.

I don't understand you clearly: is that good or bad if the company has many clients on their dedis? Are there any agendas? I wonder if it is very risky.

I try to shop around and find good deals where ever I can. Poking around on web master forums and checking the latests crazy threads, some are really complete BS though and their so easy to spot. Gnax is nice and thats more than likely who I will stick with as I have yet to find anyone else willing to do some of the specials they run. Also Rackmount is okay, but not my top prefered.

Again, it really will depend on the level of knowledge you have supporting a server and your budget. I'm sure you'd be able to get a cheap servers if your able to manage it yourself.

I have tinkered around with some low end servers I bought for cheapy rates, which wasn't bad for home machines. Though I have seen some sooooooooo cheap it wasn't even worth it after you seen what they had going on there. :D
