Those in the UK would have known about this, if not by now. What are your thoughts on this matter?

Those who live outside the UK let me bring you up to speed.

Not sure what came first however:

Ntl had submitted a plan to merge with ITV Britain's largest free to air commercial broadcaster. Sky acquired 17.9% stake in ITV and the merger was refused days later.

Ntl merged with telewest a year prior and merged again with Virgin Mobile to rebrand as Virgin Media providing: TV, Broadband, Mobile and Phone services.

So the two largest media companies Sky and Virgin Media are now battling like it was World War 3. Sky which owns Television Channels: Sky One which airs shows like Bones, Lost and additional channels such as Sky News, Sky Two and Sky Three. Sky are requesting double the initial fee for Virgin Media to continue to broadcast Sky One, Sky News, Sky Two and Sky Three on their Digital Services.

Virgin Media and Sky have continued to negotiate however Virgin Media has announced as of March 1st those channels will be removed from their services.

Sky has now advertised using The Simpson’s to say "Come Join Sky".
