I would like to warn anyone thinking of using latehosting.com.

they will charge you 20% VAT, but they do not display any VAT registration number on their site or on any invoices, which makes me think they are not VAT registered.

Is there no way to verify a host is VAT registered?

only way to verify a business is through the VAT reg. number, which seems daft as if they dont have one you have to contact HMRC so they can verify and investigate.

even if they are VAT registered it is a legal requirement they display this number on their websites, all paperwork (letterheads, businesscards) and this must be clearly displayed on all invoices where VAT is charged, otherwise they cant charge VAT

Sounds like they suck. Thanks for the review

yes. they wont refund, so i am using the month i have paid for, but another thing with them is that from day one FTP has always failed but SFTP works.

today i get this from them

Hello Terry,

Why you are using port 80 to connect on the FTP? Have you changed any default ports or?

This is not a server/cPanel problem, is something that you have done/changed on the VPS.

Kind Regards,

Paul P., Technical Director - Late Hosting Ltd

but regardless to this if they are charging VAT then they MUST display a valid VAT number

Hello,

I was never aware about this thread, so please accept my apologies for not responding sooner.

@ Terry Robertson, I don't understand what is the point of you being rude and over reacting in your comments, HMRC is aware about our application being delayed and delayed for months.

As about the FTP issues, you have a VPS server, so your FTP fails and we were happy to work out with you on a solution.

Creating a thread warning people and then commenting in a very rude way is not professional at all.

As I can see your VPS is running fine and we probably meet your stability and speed expectations. Also I've believe you noticed that we don't oversell and we always try to provide the fastest and stable servers for our customers.

We are a customer friendly company, we always work with our customers any possible issues, we also try to meet their financial needs or financial problems.

It's a shame that even we do our best, people like you create a thread WARNING people that think giving us a change because of a VAT number.

I wont start a discussion here, just remember that if you want to run a business you will need to keep a professional relation with your partnees.

Good luck with your company and be sure that you will be the first one who will be notified about VAT news with a copy of the certificate.

Best regards,
Denis R.

This issue is been sorted as latehosting has stopped charging VAT until they can sort out the slow situation with HMRC. I may have jumped the gun in making this post and apologies to Denis and all at latehosting

I love it when issues are resolved in a mature and an amicable way.

Thanks to Dennis from LateHosting for responding to this thread.

Way to go LateHosting, my hats off to you. I believe this serves as a learning experience that sometimes we have to communicate with our web host when we are facing a situation that leaves us unsatisfied, before going to a public thread and putting them out on the front like this.
However, I commend easthostmedia for being man enough to humble himself and realize his mistake by apologizing. As Artashes mentioned above, It makes me happy knowing that issues are resolved in a mature, amicable way, through communication, the missing vital ingredient to almost any issue.
