Best Webhost for a Forum (Bulletin Board) Driven Site

I am more of a novice so my needs are user-friendliness, ultimately ad-support, ability to host a forum, and a few webpages. I would also need to software to help design a webpage and the forum since I am a novice. I think the forum will take awhile to become popular as it is starting from the ground up. Ultimatelyt I am thinking maybe a few hundred people a week (maybe more if really lucky).

Thanks for your input.

Firstly hello Jason, and welcome to Hosting Discussion, and more important, secondly to your question. Almost any host can provide the space and bandwidth you require and price is obviously relative, though it’s nice to see you are looking for the more important features available.

The small through to medium hosts that dwell here (ourselves included) tend to offer the support you require to answer and support more personally rather than generically however look around, each host here could easily provide what you’re looking for :)

Hi Jason,
Just about anyone listed here can do this for you, they all have cpanel and with it you should easily setup and manage a forum, try that for a while see if you like to work in your site or on your site.

I would recommend you visit Vbuletin forums. I have seen they have separated section for the web hosting there and you easiely will be able to ask your question

I think your main focus should be to find a reliable web host that can provide your requirements. You will want to find a good web host with support that meets your standards. Be that 24/7 support, live chat, phone chat, ticket support etc..
For the rest of your requirements like other people have said you have basic requirements and any web host can provide them at this moment in time. Don't fall for the whole unlimited disk space/bandwidth and overselling. If you have any question we are always ready to help.

Sounds as if you need a host with a wysiwyg site building system and auto installers. I believe that fantastico is a program that offers auto install of many programs, but not auto upgrades.

It might be best to find a webmaster or host/webmaster who can directly help you with some of the stuff that you're not familiar with.

For building your site there's also various software that can help make that process easier as well.

For a small forum almost any basic shared hosting plan will suit you, only your budget will expand or limit your options. You should also consider hosts that offer scripts or auto-installers that have the forum software that you can use to make your forum. Good luck!
