Best message board?

So what does everyone think is the best free forum software out there?
Also, I always thought Invision was free, but I just visited their site and they have pricing for it!? Is this true? Didn't it used to be free?

Invision is very good, and yes they use to have a free version. Many of their users feel stranded, and betrayed because Invision had said that there will always be a free version, and then stripped it away after many user's sites became popular or dependent on it.

vBulletin is also considered top of the line.

As free solutions I've heard good things about phpbb and simplemachines.org.

vbulletin is the paid choice of most serious forums I know.

Yeah, phpbb is pretty pretty pretty good considering it's free.

No such thing like "The Best"! vBulletin can be "the best"
MB for someone, but for you it can be "otherone".

I like vBulletin and IPB, but I tried SMF (simplemachines.org)
and I must say SMF seems very promising MB software.
