AvidInteractive introduced a new product called Servera. Servera is a new technology to help web hosting companies monitor their web servers without the need of relying on server-side scripts, or external 3rd party service providers.

The Servera software is built to run from the task tray of your Windows XP desktop, and can monitor a server’s loads, and services remotely.

An avidInteractive spokesperson said, “The need for a solution like this, has been one that may web hosting providers have shared for quite some time.”

Servera eliminates the need for server-side scripted monitors, such as those written in php, CGI, Perl, etc, which are typically out of order the minute your web server goes down. It also eliminates the costly effects of hosting your solution on a 3rd party or external server or hosting provider.

The system combines a few technologies, and is built on the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0.

LicensePal.com’s, Patrick Parsatoon said, “Servera is absolutely brilliant. We’ve been waiting on something like this for ages.” He went further to say, “When we first set Servera up, it alerted us shortly after, that our server was down, allowing us to act quickly on the problem. It was at that point that we realized we made the right decision.”

AvidInteractive has released a single server version of Servera, called Servera Lite. The Lite version of the software is ideal for those with single servers to monitor, or for those that want to test the power of Servera, before the release of Servera Suite.

Servera Suite is scheduled to be released within the month, but avidInteractive is quick to point out that they do not provide any estimated times, to avoid customer confusion if delays occur.

In the meantime however, avidInteractive says that, Servera Lite is currently available from their site, and an announcement will be made when the more advanced Servera Suite is available.
